Called governor's office about stuck ESD adjudication - realistic timeline for approval?
I've been waiting FOREVER on my unemployment claim! Filed initially on Sept 29th and it's been sitting in 'pending adjudication' since Oct 21st. I was losing my mind so I finally called the governor's office yesterday to see if they could help move things along. Has anyone else tried this route? How long should I expect to wait after contacting the governor's office before seeing movement on my claim? Getting desperate as rent is due next week and my savings are completely drained. Any insights would be super appreciated!

I went through something similar back in March. My claim was stuck in adjudication for about 5 weeks before I contacted the governor's office. After I did that, it took roughly 7-10 business days before I saw any movement. The governor's office basically forwards your information to an ESD escalation team who then prioritizes your claim. Make sure you keep checking your eServices account daily and also your email for any correspondence requiring action.

•Thanks for the response! 7-10 business days sounds better than what I've been dealing with. Did they contact you directly before approving it or did it just change status one day?

•That's good to hear! Two weeks would be amazing compared to the month+ I've been waiting already.

The governor's office route can definitely help, but it's still not immediate. From my experience helping clients with ESD issues, you're typically looking at 5-14 business days for them to process an escalated claim. It really depends on their current backlog and the complexity of your adjudication issue. Do you know what's causing the adjudication in the first place? Was there a separation issue with your employer, earnings discrepancy, or something else? That can affect timeline too.

•I think it might be because I had a part-time job while working full-time, and the part-time employer contested it even though I was laid off from my main job. At least that's my guess since no one will actually tell me what the hold up is!

THE GOVERNORS OFFICE IS USELESS!!!!! I tried them TWICE and nothing happened. ESD is a complete disaster. I waited 11 weeks in adjudication and when I finally got approved they owed me $7,800 in back payments. The whole system is designed to make people give up.

•That hasn't been my experience at all. The governor's office referral definitely moved my claim forward. Maybe it depends on the specific issue or who handles your case? ESD does have problems but there are ways to navigate the system.

Have you tried using Claimyr? After my claim was stuck for weeks, I used their service to get through to an actual ESD agent instead of waiting on hold for hours. It cost money but was worth it for me - they connected me directly to an agent who could see exactly what was holding up my claim and told me what I needed to do to fix it. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - Might be worth checking out while you're waiting for the governor's office route to work.

•I've never heard of that before! I'll check it out - at this point I'm willing to try anything because this waiting is killing me financially.

Contacting the governor's office can indeed help expedite claims that are stuck in adjudication, but there's no guaranteed timeline. Based on current ESD processing standards in 2025, most escalated claims see movement within 5-14 business days after the governor's office forwards the request. That said, here are some tips to potentially speed things up further: 1. Make sure you've uploaded all requested documentation to your eServices account 2. Continue filing your weekly claims without interruption 3. Check your spam/junk email folders daily for ESD communications 4. If you received any fact-finding questionnaires, ensure they're completed promptly The main benefit of the governor's office intervention is that it forces ESD to assign someone to review your specific case rather than leaving it in the general queue.

•Thank you for the detailed information! I have been filing weekly claims religiously and uploaded everything they've asked for. I'll double-check my spam folder though - that's a good point.

•I tried calling like 20+ times but either got disconnected or was on hold so long I had to hang up for work or other commitments. It's impossible to get through!

Quick update - I just checked with a client who contacted the governor's office last month about an adjudication issue. Their claim was resolved in 8 business days after the referral. So that's one recent data point that might help set your expectations realistically.

•That's really helpful, thank you! 8 business days would be amazing compared to the waiting I've already done. Fingers crossed!

My brother had his claim stuck four months!! He called governors office and nothing happened for almost 3 weeks, then suddenly everything was fixed and he got backpay for everything. So dont give up hope but also dont expect miracles tomorrow. The system is totally broken.

•Wow, four months is insane! But glad he finally got it resolved and received all his backpay. That gives me some hope at least.

One thing I learned from my experience - when your claim does get approved after adjudication, if you're owed backpay, it typically shows up 2-3 business days after the approval. Just so you can plan accordingly once you see movement on your claim status.

•Thanks for the heads up! That's good to know for planning purposes. Really appreciate everyone's insights here - feels less isolating knowing others have gone through this too.
