Governor's office intervention not moving my ESD adjudication - how long should I wait?
So frustrating! I've been stuck in adjudication for like 6 weeks and finally called the Governor's office last Thursday out of desperation. The person I spoke with was really nice and promised they would contact ESD on my behalf to try and move things along. They said someone from unemployment would call me 'soon.' Well it's now Tuesday of the following week and absolutely nothing has changed on my claim status - still shows adjudication with no timeline given. I'm getting really anxious because I only have about $430 left in savings. Should I: 1) Call the Governor's office again? 2) Keep waiting since it's only been 3 business days? 3) Try something else entirely? Has anyone had the Governor's office actually help speed things up? How long did it take after they intervened?

The Governor's office intervention can sometimes help, but it typically takes 5-7 business days to see any movement. Since it's only been 3 business days, I'd suggest waiting until Thursday before contacting them again. In the meantime, document all your attempts to resolve this issue - dates you called, who you spoke with, what was promised, etc. This documentation will be helpful if you need to escalate further. Also, have you tried contacting your state representative or senator? They often have dedicated staff who can help with ESD issues and sometimes get faster results than the Governor's office.

•Thanks for the advice. It's just hard to be patient when money is running out. I haven't tried my state rep yet - that's a good idea. Do you know if I should keep filing my weekly claims even though nothing is being paid out? I've filed every week but it feels pointless.

•Ugh that's disheartening to hear. Did your claim eventually get resolved after they called you back? I'm worried they'll just ask for documents I've already provided multiple times.

I've helped several people through this exact situation. Here's what you need to know: 1. YES, keep filing your weekly claims even when in adjudication! This is absolutely crucial. If you stop filing and your claim is eventually approved, you won't receive payment for weeks you didn't file for. 2. The Governor's office referrals typically get a 7-10 business day response window. While they do flag your claim for review, they join a different (but still prioritized) queue. 3. For fastest results, I've found that getting through to an actual ESD agent who can see the specific hold on your claim is most effective. Many adjudication issues can be resolved in minutes if you reach the right person. I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that helps you get through to ESD representatives when their lines are jammed. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. I've recommended it to several people stuck in adjudication and most got their issues resolved in a single call once they actually reached an agent.

•Thank you! I've definitely been filing every week despite nothing coming through. I actually hadn't heard of Claimyr before. I'll check out their website. At this point I'd try almost anything to get this resolved. Did the people you recommended it to have to pay a lot for the service?

•It's not about the cost - it's about actually getting your benefits that you're entitled to. The fee is minimal compared to potentially waiting weeks for thousands in unemployment benefits. And yes, they got their issues resolved because they actually reached real ESD agents who could see exactly what was holding up their claims. Most found it was something simple that could be fixed immediately once they had someone actually looking at their file.

The Governor's office is overwhelmed with ESD complaints right now! When I called in early 2025, they told me they were receiving over 100 unemployment-related complaints PER DAY! No wonder it takes them time to follow up. I had a similar experience back in February. Called the Governor, waited a week, nothing happened, called again, waited ANOTHER week, finally got a call from an ESD supervisor who cleared my adjudication in literally 3 minutes. He said my claim had a simple identity verification flag that any agent could have removed. I was LIVID after waiting 9 weeks in adjudication for something so simple. The system is completely BROKEN. They put these holds on claims but then make it impossible to reach anyone who can remove them. It's a sick joke.

•this is why i always tell ppl just keep calling ESD directly instead of these roundabout methods. governor office is a waste of time imo

•But how many hours did you waste trying to call ESD directly? Last time I tried, I called 47 times in one day and never got through. At least with the Governor's office I eventually got a callback from someone with authority to fix my claim.

my cousin works at ESD (not sharing any inside info just what everyone knows) and she says the best time to call is Tuesday and Wednesday mornings right when they open. Monday they're swamped with weekend backlog and Thursday/Friday they're trying to clear cases before weekend. Also Governor referrals do get tagged but they have their own special queue so it still takes time.

•This is really helpful insider info, thank you! Maybe I'll try calling ESD directly tomorrow morning when they open. Do you know if adjudication issues can be handled by regular agents or do they have to transfer you to a specialist?

•Regular agents can handle some adjudication issues but not all. Depends what flag is on your account. But even if they can't fix it they can at least tell you exactly why you're in adjudication which is more than the automated system tells you!

I was in adjudication for 11 weeks last year and tried EVERYTHING - governor's office, state rep, senator, even contacted a local news reporter who does those "help me solve this government problem" segments. Nothing worked until I finally managed to get through to an actual ESD agent. Turns out there was a simple error with my claim that took literally 5 minutes to fix once someone looked at it. My advice is keep pursuing all channels but focus on actually getting through to ESD directly. The governor's office is just another layer of bureaucracy. Last year I discovered a service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent when I couldn't get through myself. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 It was literally the only thing that worked for me after months of frustration. The agent I spoke with immediately saw the issue and fixed it while I was on the phone.

•does this claimyr thing actually work? i tried it once but chickened out cuz seemed weird to pay someone just to get me thru to ESD which should be free to call anyway??

One additional important thing to consider - have you checked your ESD secure message center to see if they've requested any additional information? Sometimes they send requests through the portal but don't call or email you about them. If you miss responding to these requests, your adjudication can drag on indefinitely. Log in to your eServices account and check if there are any new messages or questionnaires that need your attention.

•That's a good reminder. I just logged in and checked - there are no new messages or action items showing in my account. It literally just shows "Adjudication In Progress" with no further details. So frustrating! I'll try calling directly tomorrow morning AND follow up with the governor's office if I don't get through. Thank you everyone for all the suggestions!
