Called Governor's office for ESD escalation - still no callback after 5 days

I've been dealing with an impossible adjudication situation for 7 weeks now and finally called the Governor's office last Thursday as a last resort. The person I spoke with took all my info and assured me that my case would be escalated and someone from ESD would call me back. It's been 5 days now and still nothing. Has anyone else gone the Governor's office route? How long did you have to wait for the callback? I'm getting really desperate as rent is due next week and I've exhausted my savings. This whole process is just beyond frustrating.

I did the exact same thing back in February! They told me 3-5 business days but I actually ended up waiting almost 2 full weeks before anyone from ESD called me back. When they finally did call though, they resolved my issue on that same call. Hang in there!

TWO WEEKS?! Ugh, I was hoping it would be faster than calling the regular ESD line. Did they give you any explanation for why it took so long?

The Governor's office escalation can be effective but it's not always as quick as they make it sound. Right now ESD is dealing with a seasonal claim surge plus they're still understaffed in several departments. In my experience helping clients navigate this, escalations through the Governor's office typically take 7-10 business days for a response, though some get lucky with 3-5 days. Make sure you're checking your spam folder and answering unknown calls, as they sometimes only try once or twice before marking your case as 'unable to reach claimant.'

Thank you! That's really helpful to know. I'll make sure to answer every single call, even spam-looking ones. I'm just getting so anxious because my adjudication has been pending for so long with zero updates.

The govs office is USELESS!!!! I tried that route TWICE last year and nobody EVER called me back! I finally got my issue fixed when I contacted my state representative instead. They have dedicated staff who deal with ESD issues and got back to me within 48 hours. Skip the governor runaround and go straight to your rep!!

Wow, that's disappointing to hear about the Governor's office. I'll look up my state rep right now - great suggestion, thank you!

I work with unemployment issues regularly and recently discovered a service called Claimyr that might help you get through to ESD directly instead of waiting for a callback. It basically holds your place in the phone queue and calls you when an agent is available. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 showing how it works. I've had clients use it successfully to resolve adjudication issues similar to yours without waiting for escalation callbacks.

Thank you! I hadn't heard of this service before. I'll definitely check it out - at this point I'm willing to try anything that might help speed things up.

my neighbor tried the governor thing too and said it was like 8 days before anyone called him but then they fixed his claim right away so maybe just a little more waiting?? good luck!!!

I'm actually going through a very similar experience right now. Called Governor's office last Monday and still waiting for someone to call back. Did you also get a confirmation email after speaking with them? I got one saying 5-7 business days but today is business day 7 and nothing yet. Super stressful when you're running out of money and options! Let me know if you end up getting a call before I do.

I did get a confirmation email, but it just said someone would be in touch and didn't specify a timeframe. So frustrating that we're both in this position. I'll definitely update here if I hear anything!

Quick update based on what others have shared: The success rate for Governor's office escalations has been dropping lately. State representatives and senators often have more direct channels to ESD. If you don't hear back within 10 business days, I'd recommend contacting both your state rep AND trying the Claimyr service mentioned above, as these are currently the most effective routes to resolving stuck claims in my experience.

THIS!!! 👆 The state rep route worked when NOTHING else did for me. ESD is a total disaster since their system "upgrade" last summer.

Just wanted to share that I finally got my call back yesterday! They apologized for the delay and said they're prioritizing cases based on hardship level and claim date. The rep asked if I had immediate hardship (like eviction risk) and when I said yes, they expedited my case. Maybe call the Governor's office back and specifically mention your rent situation? That might bump you up in priority.

That's a really smart suggestion - thank you! I'll definitely call back tomorrow and specifically mention the rent deadline. I'm so glad you finally got your call and hopefully a resolution!
