Need ESD governor's office contact info for stalled unemployment claim
My unemployment claim has been stuck in adjudication for almost 9 weeks now with zero movement. I've called ESD about 30 times and either get disconnected or wait for hours just to be told 'we can't do anything, just keep waiting.' My rent is due in 5 days and I'm at my breaking point. Someone told me I should escalate to the governor's office since they can sometimes intervene on unemployment issues. Does anyone have the governor's office phone number for unemployment escalations? Has anyone actually had success going this route? I'm desperate at this point.

The Governor's office contact number is 360-902-4111. I used it last year when my claim was stuck for 3 months and got movement within a week after they reached out to ESD. Make sure you have your claim ID and all your case details ready when you call. They'll create a ticket and assign someone from the special resolution team to your case. Good luck!

•Thank you SO MUCH! Did you just call and explain your situation or did you need to fill out some kind of form first? I'm hoping they can help because I literally can't wait another month for this to resolve.

•Same here! Got the same runaround. They sent my info to the "escalation team" but no one ever contacted me back. The whole system is broken.

Before contacting the governor's office, have you tried the ESD Office of Special Investigations? Their number is 866-697-4831. Sometimes they can help move claims faster than the regular adjudication process, especially if there's a suspected identity verification issue or other complex factors delaying your claim. Also, if you're really struggling to reach someone at ESD, I would recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me get through to ESD after weeks of failed attempts. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It made a huge difference in getting my adjudication resolved when I was in a similar situation.

•Thanks! I actually didn't know about the Office of Special Investigations. I'll try them first thing tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I might check out that Claimyr service. At this point I'm willing to try anything because my savings are completely gone.

Another option is to contact your local state representative. Mine helped resolve my ESD issue when nothing else worked. Find your rep here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/ They have staff specifically designated to help constituents with state agency issues, including ESD problems. My rep's office submitted an inquiry and my adjudication was completed within 10 days after being stuck for months.

•THIS is the correct answer. Governor's office gets thousands of inquiries and they just forward them to ESD anyway. Your local representative has a constituent services team that deals with fewer cases and has more direct lines to department leadership. I worked for a state rep and we resolved dozens of unemployment cases during 2023-2024.

FWIW the govs office number is useless now. They changed their policy in January 2025 and now they just send u an automatic email saying to contact ESD directly. Such BS!!!! The whole system is designed to make people give up on their benefits. I waited 12 weeks and finally just gave up and took a job paying half what I used to make becuz I couldnt wait for ESD to get their act together.

•Oh no, that's really disappointing to hear about the governor's office policy change. I'm sorry you had to take a lower-paying job because of their incompetence. This whole system is so frustrating.

Just wanted to update that although the Governor's office can still help in some cases, the January policy change means they're much more selective about which cases they escalate. Your best bet is definitely contacting your state representative as others have suggested. They usually have direct contacts with ESD's legislative liaison team. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you're still filing your weekly claims even while in adjudication. I've seen people lose weeks of benefits because they stopped filing while waiting for adjudication to complete.

•Thanks for the update. I've been religiously filing my weekly claims even though nothing's being paid. I'll focus on contacting my state rep tomorrow morning. I appreciate everyone's help here - at least I have some direction now instead of just staring at that "adjudication in progress" message day after day.

have u tried the ESD escalation form on their website?? Sometimes that works better than calling. Go to esd.wa.gov > unemployment > customer care > escalation form. It's burried on purpose I think lol

•I actually did try that form 3 weeks ago and got an auto-reply saying someone would contact me within 5-7 business days... and of course no one ever did. But thanks for suggesting it - it might work better for others!

my neighbor works for the legislatur and said the best way to get ESD attention is to file a complaint with the state ombdusman office. they have legal authority to investigate state agencies. might be worth a try if the other stuff doesn't work
