Need governor's office phone number for ESD claim escalation - help!

My unemployment claim has been stuck in adjudication for 9 weeks now and I'm desperate. Called ESD 23 times last week and either got disconnected or told there's nothing they can do. Someone at WorkSource suggested contacting the governor's office to escalate my case since I'm about to lose my apartment. Does anyone have that phone number or know if this actually works? I've already emailed my state rep with no response.

The Governor's Office contact number is 360-902-4111. You can also submit your complaint through their website at governor.wa.gov/contact. Make sure to include your claim ID number, the date you filed, and details about your attempts to contact ESD. They can sometimes help escalate cases that have been stuck too long.

Thank you SO MUCH!! I'll try calling them tomorrow morning. Do you know if I should mention anything specific to get them to actually help? I'm worried they'll just tell me to keep waiting.

I had a completely different experience. The governor's office helped me resolve my standby status issue after being stuck for 6 weeks. It really depends on who handles your case and how you present the urgency of your situation. Make sure to emphasize any financial hardship you're experiencing - they prioritize those cases.

Instead of waiting on government offices to call you back, try Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me get through to an actual ESD agent after weeks of trying. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 I was skeptical at first but it actually connected me to ESD in about 30 minutes when I couldn't get through for weeks on my own. The agent I spoke with was able to clear my adjudication flag that same day.

I've never heard of this before. Has anyone else used it? Seems too good to be true after all the trouble I've had getting through.

I used it last month when my weekly claims weren't processing correctly. Got through to an agent who fixed everything while I was on the phone. Definitely worth it when you're desperate.

Something to consider: contacting your STATE LEGISLATOR is actually more effective than the governor's office in many cases. They have dedicated staff who handle constituent services and direct lines to ESD's legislative liaison office. I've worked with dozens of people who got their ESD issues resolved this way. Find your legislators here: app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder Contact BOTH your Representative and Senator. Be specific about: 1. How long you've been waiting 2. What financial hardship you're experiencing 3. Your claim ID and contact information 4. All the ways you've tried to resolve this already If you've already tried this with no response, try the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. They can sometimes intervene on unemployment issues: insurance.wa.gov/file-complaint-or-check-your-complaint-status

I emailed my rep about 2 weeks ago but never heard back. Maybe I should call their office directly? I didn't know about the Insurance Commissioner option - will definitely try that too if needed. Thanks!

ALWAYS CALL don't just email!!! Emails get ignored half the time. I had to call my senator's office 3 times but they finally helped get my identity verification issue fixed. The staff person literally called ESD with me on the line!

One more thing to consider - make sure your adjudication isn't stuck because of missing documents or information they requested. Log into your eServices account and check if there are any alerts or action items in your account. Sometimes they send letters asking for additional info and if you miss responding within the timeframe, your claim just sits there indefinitely.

I've checked my eServices account obsessively - no alerts or pending items. The last letter I got just said my claim was in adjudication with no explanation why or what they need from me. That's why I'm so frustrated!

My sister had a similar issue last month and what worked for her was sending a message through the eServices portal EVERY SINGLE DAY asking for an update. After about 10 days of this someone finally responded and processed her claim. Maybe they just get annoyed enough to help lol. Seems ridiculous but it worked for her! Good luck!!

I would caution against this approach. Sending multiple messages can actually flag your account for review and potentially cause further delays. The system is designed to queue messages, not prioritize based on volume. One detailed message per week is the recommended approach according to ESD's own guidance.

I'm dealing with something similar - my claim has been in adjudication for 7 weeks now. What's really helped me document everything is keeping a detailed log of every call I make, every message I send through eServices, and any responses I get (or don't get). This way when I contact the governor's office or my legislators, I can show exactly how many attempts I've made and the lack of response from ESD. Also, if you're facing imminent eviction or utilities being shut off, make sure to mention that specifically in any communications. I've heard they have to prioritize cases where people are about to become homeless. Hang in there - this system is broken but there are people who will eventually help if you keep pushing through the right channels.

This is really smart advice about keeping a detailed log! I wish I had started doing this from the beginning. I've been so scattered trying different things that I don't have good records of all my attempts. Going to start documenting everything from now on. And yes, I am facing eviction next week so I'll make sure to emphasize that urgency in all my communications. Thanks for the encouragement - it helps to know I'm not alone in this mess!

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago - 8 weeks stuck in adjudication, facing eviction, the whole nightmare. Here's what finally worked for me: I called the governor's office AND my state senator's office on the same day, then followed up with written complaints to both within 24 hours. The key was being very specific about the timeline and financial impact. In your written communication, include: - Exact dates of when you filed and when adjudication started - Number of attempted contacts with ESD (you mentioned 23 calls) - Specific financial hardship (mention the apartment situation with timeline) - Your claim number and contact info The senator's office actually got back to me first and had someone from ESD call me within 3 business days. Turns out my case was just sitting in a queue with no one assigned to review it. Sometimes you really do need that external pressure to get things moving. Don't give up - 9 weeks is definitely long enough to warrant escalation. You're not asking for special treatment, just for them to do their job.

This is exactly the kind of detailed roadmap I needed! Thank you for breaking down the specific steps and what to include in the written complaints. It's really encouraging to hear that someone in a similar situation actually got results. I'm going to call both offices tomorrow morning and then send follow-up letters with all those details you mentioned. The fact that your case was just sitting unassigned is so frustrating but at least gives me hope that mine might be the same situation. I really appreciate you taking the time to share what worked for you!

I've been watching this thread and wanted to add one more resource that helped me when I was in a similar situation last year. The Washington State Office of the Ombuds can sometimes help with state agency issues like this. Their number is 1-800-562-6028 and they have a specific process for ESD complaints. What made the difference in my case was calling them AND filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against ESD at the same time. The BBB complaint creates a paper trail that agencies have to respond to within a certain timeframe. It sounds like overkill, but when you're facing eviction, you need to hit them from multiple angles. Also, if you do get through to ESD (whether through Claimyr or the governor's office), ask to speak with a supervisor immediately. Don't let them tell you to "just wait" - after 9 weeks you have every right to demand escalation within their system. Get the supervisor's name and direct number if possible. Hang in there - I know how hopeless this feels but you're doing all the right things by reaching out everywhere you can.
