ESD adjudication nightmare - going to contact Governor's office for help

I've been stuck in adjudication for NINE WEEKS with absolutely zero movement on my claim. I've called ESD 32 times in the past month and either get disconnected or told 'we can't help you, just wait.' My rent is already late and my landlord is threatening eviction. I've emailed my state rep with no response. At this point, I'm desperate and want to contact the Governor's office directly since this is a state agency failing its citizens. Does anyone have the direct phone number to the Governor's office? Is there a specific extension or department that handles ESD complaints? I'm at my wit's end and need to escalate this before I lose my apartment.

The Governor's office main number is 360-902-4111. You can explain your situation to whoever answers and they'll direct you to the right department. I went through a similar nightmare last year - 12 weeks in adjudication! Make sure you document every call you make with dates and who you spoke with. Also, consider contacting your state senator instead of representative, they sometimes have more pull with ESD issues.

THANK YOU! I'll call them first thing tomorrow morning. Did contacting the governor's office actually help in your case? How long after reaching out did you see movement on your claim?

idk if the governors office is gonna do anything tbh... they probably just forward your complaint back to ESD and nothing happens. my brothers been waiting 4 months and even got his state senator involved and still nada.

That's so discouraging to hear :( But I literally don't know what else to do at this point. I've tried everything else!

Before you go the Governor route, have you tried using Claimyr? It helped me get through to an actual ESD agent after weeks of trying. Their service basically puts you at the front of the call queue. I was super skeptical but watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3) and decided to try it. Got through to an actual person in 15 minutes who fixed my adjudication issue that same day. Check out claimyr.com - might save you the hassle of the Governor's office runaround.

is that service legit? sounds too good to be true lol. ESD phones are impossible

It worked for me! I was stuck in adjudication for 7 weeks, called through Claimyr, and the agent discovered there was just one document they needed that somehow never got requested. Fixed it right there on the phone and my payment was released three days later.

While contacting the Governor's office might eventually help, it's often not the most efficient path. A few suggestions that might get faster results: 1. File a formal complaint through the ESD website - this creates a paper trail 2. Contact your STATE SENATOR (not just representative) as they often have dedicated staff for unemployment issues 3. Request an official hardship escalation through ESD - specifically mention the eviction threat 4. Contact your local legal aid society as they may provide free representation for unemployment issues If you've truly tried all these with no success, then yes, the Governor's main line is 360-902-4111. Ask to speak with the constituent services team about an ESD adjudication delay causing imminent homelessness. They'll likely create a case number and assign someone to look into it. Be prepared to provide your claim ID, contact information, and a timeline of your attempts to resolve this. Good luck!

I've done 1 and 3 already, with zero response. I'll definitely try contacting my state senator tomorrow as well as the Governor's office. Thank you for the detailed steps - this feels like a more concrete plan than I've had in weeks!

I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!! Adjudication for 11 weeks, no one would help me, landlord threatening eviction, the whole nightmare. I did wind up calling the Governor's office and guess what? NOTHING HAPPENED. Just more waiting. The only thing that finally worked was when I went to the in-person WorkSource office and refused to leave until someone helped me. The lady there made some internal calls and my claim was magically fixed 2 days later. Try that before wasting time with the governor's people.

Oh wow, I didn't even think about going to WorkSource in person. There's one about 30 minutes from me. I might try that tomorrow before calling the Governor. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Bring ALL your paperwork and documentation with you!!! And be super nice to the WorkSource people even though you're frustrated - they didn't cause the problem but they might be able to help fix it. Good luck!!!

While everyone here is giving good advice about contacting various officials, I want to address the more urgent issue - your housing situation. If you're facing eviction, there are resources available that can help while you continue fighting the ESD battle: 1. Apply for emergency rental assistance through your county's housing department 2. Contact 211 for referrals to emergency housing funds 3. Look into the Eviction Resolution Pilot Program which can mediate with your landlord 4. File for a hardship stay with the court if an eviction is filed As for the Governor's office, I have the direct number for the constituent services team that handles ESD issues: 360-902-4111, then ask for the constituent services specialist for employment issues. Be prepared with your claim ID, contact history with ESD, and be very clear about the imminent housing crisis this is causing. I worked in constituent services (not for WA state) and can tell you these cases DO get attention, but they move faster when there's a legitimate emergency (like eviction) and when you have thorough documentation of your attempts to resolve it through normal channels.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I didn't know about the Eviction Resolution Program - I'll look into that immediately. And thanks for the specific instructions on who to ask for at the Governor's office. I've been keeping a detailed log of all my calls to ESD with dates, times, and what was said, so I should have the documentation needed.
