If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Just wanted to add that if your child support order changes while you're on unemployment, it can take a few weeks for Washington ESD to update their records. I had to call multiple times to get the new amount processed correctly.

How did you finally get through to someone who could help with that?

0 coins

Honestly, I ended up using one of those callback services after weeks of trying. Sometimes you just need to get creative when the normal phone system isn't working.

This whole thread is making me realize I need to double-check my own situation. I thought my support was being handled correctly but now I'm not so sure.

Always good to verify. Check your DCS account online and compare it to what's actually being deducted from your UI benefits.

Has anyone dealt with the tax implications? I heard unemployment benefits are taxable income now.

0 coins

Unemployment benefits have always been taxable at the federal level. There was a temporary exception during COVID but that's over now.

Thanks for clarifying. So I should plan to set aside money for taxes or have them withheld.

For anyone still struggling to get through to Washington ESD with questions about benefit amounts or eligibility, I really can't recommend Claimyr enough. The video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ shows exactly how it works, and their website claimyr.com has more info. It's been a game-changer for people I know who needed to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD.

I bookmarked their site. If I run into issues after filing, I might give them a try.

I used them last year and it was worth every penny. Saved me probably 20+ hours of calling and redialing.

Just wanted to add that even in low unemployment periods, people still lose jobs due to company closures, layoffs, seasonal work ending, etc. The individual circumstances matter way more than the overall economic picture.

0 coins

Exactly. Unemployment insurance is designed to help individuals who lose work through no fault of their own, regardless of broader economic conditions.

Thanks everyone for helping me understand this better. I was definitely overthinking the economic angle when the real issue is just getting my layoff verified. I uploaded all my documentation this morning and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

And if you don't hear anything in 2 weeks, definitely follow up. Sometimes things get stuck in the system.

0 coins

Will do. If I can't get through by phone I'll try that Claimyr service you all mentioned.

One thing to watch out for - if you had any pension or retirement account withdrawals in the past year, that might affect your benefit calculation. Washington ESD counts certain types of retirement income when determining your weekly amount.

0 coins

I'm only 28 so no retirement stuff to worry about thankfully.

0 coins

Good! That's one less complication. The younger you are the more straightforward the benefit calculation usually is.

0 coins

Just wanted to add that once you do find out your weekly benefit amount, that's the maximum you can get each week. If you work part-time while on unemployment, they'll reduce your weekly payment based on how much you earn. It's not dollar for dollar though - there's some formula they use.

0 coins

Yeah you can earn up to like $200 or something before they start reducing your benefits. Don't quote me on the exact amount though.

0 coins

It's actually more complicated than that. They have worksheets and everything. Best to check with Washington ESD directly if you're planning to work while collecting.

Quick tip: when you report your severance on your weekly claim, make sure you report it in the week you actually received it, not spread out over multiple weeks (unless that's actually how you received it). The timing of when you report it matters for their records.

0 coins

Mine is being paid out monthly, so I should report each payment in the week I receive it?

0 coins

Exactly! Report each payment when you actually receive it, not when it was originally allocated or anything like that.

0 coins

Bottom line from someone who's been through this twice - file your unemployment claim as soon as you're laid off, regardless of severance. Report the severance honestly but don't let it stop you from filing. Better to ask forgiveness than permission with Washington ESD timing rules.

Thanks everyone! This thread gave me the confidence to file right away. Really appreciate all the advice and shared experiences.
