The whole process is designed to be confusing I swear. But once you figure out where to look it's not too bad. Good luck!
One more thing - make sure you file your weekly claims EVERY week even if your claim is still pending or in adjudication. I know someone who stopped filing weekly claims while waiting for their initial claim to be approved and then had to restart the whole process.
If you're still having trouble getting through to ESD for questions, there's also Claimyr which I used when my claim went into adjudication. They help you actually reach an agent instead of getting the busy signal runaround. Really saved me a lot of frustration.
I don't remember exactly but it was worth it to actually talk to someone instead of wasting hours trying to call. Check their site claimyr.com for current info.
Remember you have to actively look for work that's similar to what you did before, at least initially. They won't expect you to take a huge pay cut right away but you can't just apply for dream jobs that you're not qualified for.
File your claim this week for sure! The process takes time and you want to get the ball rolling. Even if there are delays, at least you'll be in the system. Good luck with everything!
Thanks everyone! This thread has been super helpful. I'm going to apply today and start my job search. Really appreciate all the advice.
I'm gonna bookmark this thread - really helpful info about the filing deadlines. Had no idea about the one-week waiting period thing.

This has been super helpful! I was worried I didn't qualify because I had a few months gap between jobs, but now I understand it's more about the quarters and total wages.

•Gaps in employment don't necessarily disqualify you as long as you have the required wages in the right time periods.

•That's such a relief. I was stressing about that gap for nothing.

Does anyone know if the wage requirements change each year? I qualified a few years ago but I'm not sure if the thresholds are the same now.

•Yes, they adjust the wage requirements annually. For 2025 it's $7,000 minimum in your base period, but it was lower in previous years.

•Thanks! Good to know they update it. Makes sense that it would adjust with inflation and wage changes.
