hang in there! the waiting sucks but it usually works out. keep filing those weekly claims and try not to stress too much about the timeline
For what it's worth, I think you're right on track timeline-wise. Most people I know who filed recently got their first payment between weeks 2-4. You should hear something soon.
Last tip - make sure your contact information is current in your account. Washington ESD needs to be able to reach you for any questions about your claim, and outdated phone numbers or addresses can cause delays.
Thank you all so much for the detailed responses! I feel much more confident about starting the application process now. Going to gather all my documents this weekend and apply on Monday.
One last tip - if you worked in multiple states recently, you might need to file in the state where you earned the most wages. Washington ESD can help determine which state you should file in if you're not sure.
I've been dealing with similar confusion about federal vs state unemployment tax deadlines. Washington ESD has their own schedule which is different from FUTA. When I couldn't get through to anyone for clarification, I ended up using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me reach the right people. They have a demo showing how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ. Really helped cut through the phone tag.
Thanks everyone for the clarification! Sounds like I need to mark April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31 on my calendar and make sure I'm staying current with Washington ESD so I keep that federal credit.

One more thing - keep all your documentation! Pay stubs, termination letter, anything related to your employment. Washington ESD might ask for additional verification even if your claim seems straightforward.

•Yeah, they love asking for random documents weeks after you file. Having everything ready saves a lot of headaches.

For what it's worth, I had a similar work situation and got about $420/week. The money helped bridge the gap while I found something better. Just stay on top of your weekly filings and job search requirements.
