I tried calling Washington ESD about this same question last month and got nowhere. Spent 3 hours on hold just to get disconnected. Might have to try that claimyr service people mentioned.
Yeah definitely try it. I was in the same boat with the endless hold times. Claimyr got me through to someone in like 20 minutes.
Just to add - if you do get approved for both programs, you'll probably have to choose one or the other eventually. But in the short term while applications are processing, you might be able to collect UI benefits while waiting for disability decision.
One last thing - if your claim gets held up in adjudication, don't panic. Sometimes it's just routine verification and doesn't mean there's a problem. But definitely follow up if it takes more than a few weeks.
Could be anything - reason for separation from your job, wage discrepancies, even just random quality control reviews. Most get resolved without issues.
That's another situation where Claimyr really helps - getting through to ask about adjudication status instead of just waiting and wondering.
Thanks everyone for all the detailed info! This thread has been super helpful. I feel much more prepared to file my claim now.
This thread has been super helpful! I feel much more confident about my job search requirements now. Going to update my documentation system and make sure I'm covering all the bases.
Just a reminder that you can also get job search help from your local WorkSource office. They have counselors who can help with resumes, interview prep, and job search strategies. All of these services count toward your requirements too.
One last thing I'll add - if you run into any issues with Washington ESD not recognizing federal employment or benefit calculations seeming wrong, don't hesitate to appeal. Federal employee claims sometimes get misprocessed initially.
The Claimyr thing is legit by the way. Used it myself when Washington ESD kept hanging up on me. Worth trying if you get stuck - saved me probably 10 hours of calling.

Just want to add that if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD with questions, I had success with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Got through on my first try and the agent was really helpful explaining my options. Sometimes it's worth paying a little to avoid the phone tag nightmare.

•I might try that. I've wasted so much time trying to get through on my own.

•Same here - used Claimyr for a different issue and it was way less stressful than the regular phone system.

Bottom line - you need to pick one path and stick with it until your situation changes. Trying to collect multiple benefits you're not entitled to will only create bigger problems down the road. Get proper advice for your specific situation before making any applications.

•You're absolutely right. I think I need to talk to both a workers comp specialist and Washington ESD before making any decisions. Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice!
