USCIS: Delay in transferring spouse's visa from F2A to CR1 after becoming US citizen - Any advice?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my immigration status. I recently became a US citizen and I'm trying to transfer my spouse's visa from F2A to CR1. It's been about 3 months since I submitted the request, but nothing's happened yet. I've uploaded all the necessary documents to the USCIS website, but it seems like they're taking their sweet time. Has anyone else gone through this process? Any advice on how to speed things up or what to expect when I finally get through to an agent? I'm getting pretty anxious about the whole situation.

I found a way to solve USCIS visa transfer delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feu4qMwA8ns

Here's what you need to do when you finally get through to an agent: 1. Be polite but firm. Explain your situation clearly. 2. Ask specifically why there's been a delay in processing your request. 3. Inquire if there's anything you can do to expedite the process. 4. Get the agent's name and a reference number for the call. 5. If they can't help, ask to speak with a supervisor. 6. Take detailed notes during the call. 7. Follow up with an email summarizing the call and any promises made. Remember, persistence is key with USCIS. Don't give up!

Great advice! I'd add: be prepared for the call by having all your docs and case numbers ready.

Ugh, USCIS is the worst. I swear they purposely make everything as difficult as possible. Hang in there, OP. It'll get sorted eventually, but it might take a while.

I feel the same way sometimes, but I try to remember that they're dealing with a lot of applications and it's just a slow process.

Have you considered reaching out to your local congressperson's office? They can sometimes help expedite these kinds of cases. Worth a shot!

I hadn't thought of that! How do I go about contacting them?

Just google your district's representative and look for a 'constituent services' section on their website. They usually have a form you can fill out to request assistance with federal agencies like USCIS.

Have you checked the processing times on the USCIS website? Sometimes they give you an idea of how long these things take. Might help set your expectations.

I did, but the range they give is so wide it's not very helpful. Says anywhere from 2 to 14 months 😩

Yikes, that's rough. Hang in there!

Have you considered hiring an immigration lawyer? They can sometimes work miracles with these kinds of cases.

I've thought about it, but aren't they super expensive?

They can be, but some offer free consultations. Might be worth checking out just to see what they say.

Just wanted to say good luck, OP! The immigration system is tough to navigate, but you'll get through it. Sending positive vibes your way! ❤️

I went through the same process a year ago, and it's all about patience and persistence. Three months may seem like a long time, but it's not unusual with USCIS. Meanwhile, continue checking the status online weekly, and document any communication you have with USCIS. If it takes too long beyond the expected time frame, consider involving a congressperson or seeking legal assistance.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of US immigration 🤡 where everything's made up and the processing times don't matter!

Congrats on becoming a citizen! 🎉 I went through something similar last year. It's frustrating, but unfortunately, USCIS moves at a snail's pace. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that can help move things along.

Pro tip: call first thing in the morning when they open. Better chance of getting through!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/eSz742AOvHc

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous! 🤬

It's totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take to get through?

I've heard about Claimyr as well, and while the cost might be a concern for some, convenience can be worth it. That said, it's important to weigh the pros and cons and see if it's the right choice for your situation.
