TWC unemployment approved but payment issues - work search errors & missing debit card

I'm at my wits end with TWC unemployment! My husband lost his restaurant manager position on February 22nd after the new owners brought in their own team. He applied for benefits right away and got an approval letter about 10 days later, but since then it's been a complete nightmare. We're supposed to be receiving payments but nothing has shown up in our account. The TWC website shows 'payment processing' for three weeks now, but no actual deposits. Worse, every time he tries to submit his required work search activities through the portal, the website crashes with an 'Error 5302' message. We've tried different browsers, clearing cache, everything! The approval letter mentioned a TWC debit card would arrive within 7-10 business days, but it's been almost 4 weeks and nothing in the mail. We've called the TWC hotline at least 30 times - always busy signals or the automated system just disconnects us. We're seriously struggling now. Mortgage is due next week, and our savings are nearly gone after paying medical bills last month. He's had six interviews but the job market is brutal right now in our area. Has anyone dealt with these specific issues? The payment processing delay, the work search error, and the missing debit card all at once? Any advice on how to actually reach a human being at TWC? I'm desperate here.

ughhh the TWC website is THE WORST!! those errors happen to everybody I think. my cousin had the same error code last month trying to do his work search stuff. have u tried doing it super early in the morning like 5am? sometimes the website works better when less ppl are on it. also did u check if ur husbands bank info is right in the system? they might be trying to direct deposit instead of the card.

We haven't tried that early morning trick yet - that's a good idea! I'll set an alarm for tomorrow. We did double-check the bank info and it looks correct on the portal. The weird thing is that it shows our payment request was processed but nothing about direct deposit or the card specifically. Just stuck in limbo.

You're dealing with three separate but common TWC issues. Let me break this down for you: 1) Missing TWC debit card - If your husband selected the debit card option rather than direct deposit, the US Bank ReliaCard can take up to 21 business days to arrive (not calendar days). You can call US Bank directly at 800-657-6343 to check the status of the card or request a replacement. 2) Work search error 5302 - This usually indicates a server timeout issue. Try submitting only one work search activity at a time instead of multiple at once. Also, take screenshots of your work search details as backup proof in case you need to provide them later. 3) Payment processing delay - This is likely because the system is waiting for work search verification to complete. Since you're getting the error, the system is stuck in a loop. The most efficient way to resolve all three issues is to speak with a TWC claim specialist. Unfortunately, reaching someone is extremely difficult right now due to high call volumes.

Thank you so much for breaking this down! I didn't realize the card could take 21 BUSINESS days - that's basically a month! I'll definitely call US Bank tomorrow. We'll also try submitting just one work search activity at a time and see if that helps. The screenshots tip is super smart - we hadn't thought of that.

when this happened to me last year I spent FOUR WEEKS trying to get someone on the phone with TWC. busy signals ALL DAY LONG... so frustrating!!! finally found something called Claimyr that got me through to a TWC agent in like 30 minutes! it basically calls for you and holds your place in line, then calls you when an agent picks up. saved me from losing my apartment honestly. their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh the agent fixed all my issues at once - got my card reissued and fixed the payment processing hang-up. hope this helps!!

Is that service legit? Sounds kinda sketchy to me. Has anyone else used it? Dont wanna give out my info to some random company.

Several important things you need to know regarding your situation: 1. The "payment processing" status means your payment request was accepted but there's likely a hold on actual payment distribution. This is common when there are work search verification issues. 2. For the missing debit card: TWC contracts with US Bank for the ReliaCard. The first card issuance can take 2-3 weeks, but replacement cards should arrive faster. As another commenter mentioned, you can contact US Bank directly. 3. The Error 5302 for work search submission is a known issue in the TWC system that's affected many claimants since their January 2025 system update. There are two workarounds: - Submit activities between 11pm-5am when server load is lowest - Call and have a TWC representative manually record your work search activities 4. If you're facing financial hardship, request an expedited payment when you do reach a representative. They can authorize an emergency payment in some cases. 5. Make sure your husband continues to request payment every two weeks even if you're having these technical issues. Missing a payment request period can cause much bigger problems.

This is incredibly helpful information! I didn't know about the expedited payment option - we'll definitely ask about that when we get through. And yes, we've been making sure to submit the payment requests every two weeks without fail, even though it's frustrating to do that when nothing seems to be happening. I'm going to try the late-night submission trick tonight.

TWC is a COMPLETE DISASTER!!! I went thru this EXACT same thing in December and January!!! The whole system is designed to FRUSTRATE people so they give up!!! I called 73 TIMES in one day and never got through!! They WANT you to fail at work search so they can deny benefits!! Its all rigged!!!!

While TWC's system is certainly overwhelmed, it's not accurate to say it's deliberately designed to make people fail. The work search requirements are set by state law, not TWC policy. The technical issues are frustrating but are typically due to outdated systems rather than malicious intent. Most claims are eventually processed correctly if you persist and follow the proper procedures.

my sister was having the exact same problem with the work search errors. she finally got someone on the phone who told her there was a CHECKBOX she needed to click at the very bottom of each work search entry that says "I certify this information is true" or something. its gray colored and really easy to miss. might be worth checking if youre missing that?

Oh my gosh, I wonder if that's it! We've been filling out all the fields but maybe missing that checkbox. Will definitely look for this. Thanks for the tip - these little details can make all the difference.

Based on your latest responses, it sounds like you have several good leads to try. One more thing to know: if your payment has been processing for three weeks, that's actually beyond the normal timeframe even with issues. Another option if you can't reach anyone by phone: TWC has in-person Workforce Solutions offices throughout Texas where staff can sometimes help with unemployment issues. They're not the same as dedicated TWC claim specialists, but they often have ways to escalate urgent cases and can help submit work search activities when the online system fails. Find your nearest location here: https://www.twc.texas.gov/directory-workforce-solutions-offices-services Just make sure to bring ID and all relevant TWC correspondence when you go.

This is so helpful! There's a Workforce Solutions office about 20 minutes from us that I didn't even think about. My husband will go there tomorrow morning with all our documentation. It would be such a relief to talk to an actual person face-to-face after all these phone calls and website errors. Thank you!

did u try logging in with a different browser?? my TWC account always crashes with Chrome but works ok with Firefox sometimes. also check if AdBlocker is on, that can mess up the TWC site too i think

We've tried Chrome, Edge, and Safari but not Firefox. Will download that and give it a try! And good call on AdBlocker - I'll make sure it's disabled. At this point we're willing to try anything! Thanks!

I had all three of these issues back in January! What ultimately worked for me was: 1. For the work search errors - I waited until 1am to submit mine (when server traffic is lowest) and it finally went through. 2. For the missing card - I discovered my address was slightly wrong in the TWC system (apartment number was missing). Double-check your address in your TWC account settings! Even small errors can prevent delivery. 3. For payment processing - Once I got the work search activities accepted, the payments processed within 48 hours. Don't give up! It's frustrating but fixable. And yes, Claimyr actually does work for getting through to TWC - I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of redialing.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I just checked our address in the system and everything looks correct, but it's good to know that could be an issue. We're going to try the middle-of-the-night submission tonight. It's encouraging to hear that your payments processed quickly once the work search activities went through. Fingers crossed we have the same experience!
