PA UC website issues on laptops but works on phones - anyone else?

So frustrated right now - has anyone else been having problems accessing the PA unemployment site on their laptop? For the past 3 days, I keep getting messages saying the page is either 'temporarily unavailable' or 'under construction' when I try to file my weekly claim. I can log in just fine on my phone but the mobile version is SO clunky and half the buttons don't work right. Last time I tried filing on my phone it timed out and I had to start all over! I need to get my weekly certification done by tomorrow and I'm worried about messing something up. Is this happening to anyone else or just me? Any workarounds?

Glad it's not just me but sorry you're dealing with it too! Have you found any way around it? I'm getting nervous about missing my filing deadline.

This is actually a known issue they're working on. The PA UC site is undergoing maintenance that wasn't properly announced. I spoke with a representative yesterday after finally getting through on the phone. They recommended trying during off-peak hours (before 8am or after 6pm) when server load is lower. Also, try clearing your browser cache and cookies completely - that worked for me on Chrome. If you're using Firefox or Safari, try switching to a different browser. The mobile site is limited by design but should let you complete the weekly certification if you're persistent.

Thank you so much! I'll try clearing my cache tonight and maybe set an alarm for early tomorrow morning. I'm using Edge so maybe I'll download Chrome too. Really appreciate the info!

UGH the PA UC site is ALWAYS having issues!!! I swear they do this on purpose to make people give up. Last year when I was on unemployment the same thing happened during my benefit year renewal and I lost two weeks of payments because of their broken system. They don't care about us at all.

yeahhh its so bad. my friend said they do maintenence every month but never warn anybody. wish they would tell us ahead of time instead of just shutting everything down!

I had this exact same problem last week! What worked for me was using the "compatibility mode" in my browser. If you're on Edge, click the three dots in the top right, then look for "Compatibility view settings" and add the PA UC website. For some reason their site uses older code that newer browsers struggle with. Also, if you absolutely need to get through and can't wait, I used a service called Claimyr when I was desperate to reach an actual person at UC. They got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days calling. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The agent was able to manually file my weekly claim for me over the phone when the website was down.

Thank you!!! I'll try the compatibility mode setting right now. I've never heard of Claimyr before but might check it out if I can't get through. At this point I'm willing to try anything!

This happened to me too but for a totally different reason. Turns out my internet security software was blocking the site. Check if you have any firewalls or antivirus that might be interfering. I had to add the UC site to my exceptions list and then it worked fine on my laptop. But while I'm here - anyone know how to change your bank account info in the system? I got a new checking account and need to update my direct deposit but can't find that option anywhere...

To update your bank account information, log in and go to "View and Maintain Account Information" and then select "Update Payment Information." It's under a different menu than you might expect. Just be aware that any change to direct deposit information will trigger a paper check for your next payment as a security measure, and the direct deposit to your new account won't start until the following payment.

UPDATE: The compatibility mode trick worked!!! Thank you all so much for your help. I was able to file my weekly claim without any issues. The site does look super outdated now but I don't even care as long as it works. For anyone else having this problem, definitely try the compatibility mode in your browser first!

Great to hear you got it working! For future reference, the PA UC site typically undergoes maintenance on the third Sunday of each month from 3am-7am, though emergency maintenance can happen at other times. They're supposed to post notices about planned outages, but they often don't. Always try to file your weekly claims as early in your window as possible to avoid these kinds of last-minute stresses.
