PA UC payment switching to Money Network card mid-week - will my check still arrive Thursday?
I'm super confused about the PA UC payment transition happening this month. My understanding is they're starting to load payments to the new Money Network cards on the 24th, but I'm supposed to get my regular UC check THIS Thursday. Will I still get the paper check like normal, or is everything switching to the card system immediately? I can't afford any delays since rent is due next week. Has anyone talked to UC about this transition timeline?

•Thanks! That's a relief. Do you know if we need to activate the new cards before the money gets loaded, or can we wait until after?

I just spoke with a UC representative yesterday about this exact issue. The transition to Money Network cards begins on the 24th, but any payments scheduled to be issued before that date will still come as paper checks. So yes, you should receive your final paper check this Thursday as usual. Starting next week, all your payments will be loaded onto the Money Network card instead. Make sure you've activated your card as soon as you receive it so there are no delays in accessing your funds.

•This is SO frustrating! I haven't even gotten my Money Network card in the mail yet. How are they going to start loading payments if people don't have their cards?? The whole system is a MESS.

•If you haven't received your card yet, you should contact UC right away. They began mailing the cards several weeks ago, so yours might have been lost. You don't want to have funds loaded onto a card you don't have access to.

I had the same worry last week! I couldn't get through to anyone at UC after calling for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected to a PA UC agent in about 20 minutes. They confirmed my last check would arrive normally before the switch. Check out their video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Saved me so much stress since I'm also waiting on that final check for bills.

•I've been calling for days too! Might try this if my check doesn't show up tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.

•Does that service actually work? I tried calling unemployment like 50 times this morning and just kept getting busy signals 😞

Here's the official timeline for the Money Network card transition: 1. Last paper checks will be issued through April 23rd, 2025 2. Money Network card payments begin April 24th, 2025 3. Any payments scheduled before the cutoff date will arrive as paper checks 4. Any payments scheduled after the cutoff date will be loaded onto cards If you're expecting a check on Thursday (April 22nd), that will still come as a paper check. The system doesn't switch mid-week for individual claimants - your full week's payment comes in whatever format is active when it's processed. Make sure you've activated your Money Network card as soon as you receive it, and update your address if needed through your PA UC dashboard.

•I got my card but the activation number doesn't work!!! I've tried like 20 times and it keeps saying the system is down for maintenance. What happens if I can't activate it before they load money??

•If you're having trouble with the activation number, try using the Money Network mobile app instead. Some people have reported better success that way. If that doesn't work, you should contact Money Network directly at their customer service number (different from the activation number). The funds will still be loaded to your card even if it's not activated yet, but you won't be able to access them until activation is complete.

•That's exactly what I needed to hear, thanks! Did he have any issues with the card once he started using it?

The ENTIRE UC payment system is a complete JOKE!!! I got my Money Network card AFTER my payment was supposed to be on it and had to wait an EXTRA WEEK to get my money!!! They don't care that people have bills and children to feed! I'd call them ASAP and document EVERYTHING. Don't trust what they say online because it's NEVER accurate!!!

this is my first time on unemployment do i need to do anything special for the new card or does it just come automatically?

•The Money Network card should be sent to you automatically if you're currently receiving UC benefits. If you just recently filed your initial claim, you might receive the card before you receive any payments. Once you get the card, make sure to activate it right away using the instructions that come with it.
