PA UC online appeal submission error code - can't get past 'error 404'

I lost my job at the warehouse last month and got denied benefits. I need to file an appeal but the PA UC website keeps giving me an 'Error 404' message when I try to submit online. I've tried 5 different times over the past 3 days! The deadline is coming up next week and I'm freaking out that I'll miss my chance to appeal. I definitely qualify for benefits - they said I was fired for misconduct but that's completely untrue. Has anyone else had trouble with the online appeal system? Is there another way to submit my appeal before the deadline? I tried calling but can't get through to anyone.

I had the EXACT same problem last week!!! So frustrating!!! The PA UC website is seriously the WORST. I ended up having to mail in a paper appeal form because their system is broken. You can download and print the appeal form from the website (if that part is even working lol). Make sure you send it certified mail so you have proof you submitted before the deadline!!! The address is on the form.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a printer at home though. Do you know if I can just write out the appeal on regular paper? Or do I have to use their official form?

try clearing your browser cookies and cache, sometimes that fixes website errors

I tried that already and also tried a different browser. Still getting the error. Thanks though

The 404 error usually means the page doesn't exist or you're using an outdated link. Here's what you should do: 1. Make sure you're accessing the appeal form directly from your dashboard after logging in, not from a bookmarked link 2. If that doesn't work, you can fax your appeal to 717-772-1722 3. You can also mail your appeal to: PA UC Appeals, 651 Boas Street, Room 1116, Harrisburg, PA 17121 4. Include your full name, last 4 of SSN, and determination date on any correspondence Most importantly, keep documentation showing you submitted before the 15-day deadline. The postmark date counts for mail submissions.

Thank you so much for this detailed info! I'll try accessing it from the dashboard again. If that doesn't work I'll probably fax it since that seems fastest. Do I need to use a specific form or can I just write out my appeal explaining why I disagree with their decision?

You should definitely use the official appeal form if possible. If you don't have a printer, you can go to your local PA CareerLink office - they can provide the form and help you submit the appeal. They might even be able to help you file electronically right there. Bring your determination letter and any evidence that supports your case that you weren't fired for misconduct.

That's a great idea, I didn't think about CareerLink. There's one about 20 minutes from me. I'll head there tomorrow morning with all my paperwork. Thank you!

the unemployment office is such a joke, they deny everyone hoping you wont appeal because they know most people give up from frustration. i got denied 3 times before i finally got approved last year

This is so true! They make the process confusing on purpose. My sister works for the state (not UC) and even she says the system is designed to be difficult to navigate.

I couldn't get through to anyone at UC for weeks when I had an issue with my appeal. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a PA UC agent within about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent was able to tell me exactly what was going on with my appeal and fixed the issue right away. Might be worth checking out if you're still having problems with the website.

Thank you! I've been trying to call all week with no luck. I'll check out that service if I can't get this resolved at CareerLink tomorrow. I just need to get my appeal filed before the deadline hits.

is this actually legit? seems sketchy to use a third party service

Yes, it's legitimate. They just use a system to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold for you. When they get a representative, they connect you directly to the agent. Saved me hours of frustration.

Just wanted to follow up - if you do mail or fax your appeal, you should include: 1. Your full name 2. The last 4 digits of your SSN 3. Your address and phone number 4. The date of the determination letter you're appealing 5. The reason you disagree with the determination 6. Any evidence that supports your position Also, keep calling the appeals office at 717-787-5122 while you're waiting. Sometimes they can process an appeal over the phone.

Update: I went to CareerLink this morning and they were super helpful! The staff helped me fill out the appeal form and faxed it for me right there. They gave me a confirmation page showing it was sent. Such a relief to have this done before the deadline. Thanks everyone for your help!
