PA UC IDme verification error keeps blocking seasonal worker's claim - info doesn't match but no details given
For the second year in a row, my husband's seasonal unemployment claim is stuck in IDme verification hell. He's been doing seasonal work for 8+ years and filing UC claims during off-seasons has never been an issue until 2024. Now we keep getting this frustrating error: "The information provided from unemployment does not match with IDme." \n\nWe're completely stuck because the message doesn't tell us WHAT information doesn't match! We called PA UC last year when this first happened and thought it was resolved, but here we are AGAIN with the exact same problem. The system gives a number to call unemployment (which is basically impossible to reach anyone). \n\nI tried emailing IDme support directly but just got a useless form response that doesn't address our specific issue at all. There has to be some discrepancy between his PA UC account info and IDme, but we have no idea what it is or how to fix it!\n\nHas anyone else run into this IDme verification roadblock with PA unemployment? Any suggestions on how to get this fixed permanently so we don't have to fight this battle every single year? Getting desperate here!

omg same thing happening to my brother right now!!! its so stupid, we think maybe its because he moved last year but the adress on his drivers license is still the old one?? idk these govt systems never work right

We wondered about that too, but my husband has the same address on everything - license, tax forms, everything. It's like there's some invisible mismatch somewhere and they won't tell us what it is!

The IDme verification issues are usually related to one of these mismatches:\n\n1. Name format (middle initial vs. full middle name)\n2. Date of birth formatting\n3. SSN discrepancy\n4. Address formatting differences\n5. Phone number mismatch\n\nThe most common issue I've seen is with people's legal names. If your husband is \

Thank you for these specific suggestions! We'll double-check everything in his UC profile. The frustrating part is we can't seem to see what info IDme has stored to compare against. We'll try to be extra careful about the name formatting - his middle name might be the culprit.

this is EXACTLY y i hate these stupid verification systems!!! my cousin works construction and goes thru this nonsense every winter. PA UC system is broken and they make it impossible to fix anything without talking to a real person. but then u cant get thru to talk to anyone!! its like they WANT ppl to give up and not get benefits they deserved

I had this exact issue last year and it turns out there was a hyphen in my last name in the IDme system but not in the UC system. Tiny difference but it was enough to cause the verification to fail. The frustrating part is you're right - they don't tell you WHAT information doesn't match.\n\nHave you tried using Claimyr to get through to someone at UC? I was banging my head against the wall for weeks before I found it. It got me through to a UC agent in about 30 minutes vs. days of redialing. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 that shows how it works. Basically connects you with a UC agent who can check the system and tell you exactly what field is causing the mismatch. In my case, the agent was able to update my information on their end and I was verified within 24 hours. Worth checking out if you're still stuck in verification limbo.

Thank you for this! I've never heard of Claimyr before but at this point I'll try anything. We're going on 3 weeks without benefits and our savings are getting thin. I'll check out that video link right now. Did you have to start a new claim after they fixed your information or did the existing one process automatically?

The existing claim processed automatically once they fixed the mismatch. The UC rep I spoke with actually stayed on the phone while I logged into IDme again and we confirmed it worked. Payments started processing within 48 hours after that. Hope it works out for you!

Let me tell you something about IDme - it is the WORST system ever implemented for unemployment verification. I'm a tax preparer and have helped DOZENS of clients with exactly this problem. It's not you, it's their terrible system design.\n\nHere's what I've found works about 75% of the time:\n\n1. Try a completely different browser (if you used Chrome, try Firefox)\n2. Clear ALL browser cookies and cache before starting\n3. Make sure you're not using a VPN or ad blocker when verifying\n4. Double-check capitalization in your name/address! (YES, this matters)\n5. Try the video verification option if available - sometimes human verification works when automated fails\n\nIf all that fails, you need to speak to someone at UC who has admin access to see the specific field causing problems. Unfortunately, getting through to PA UC requires the patience of a saint.

Thanks for these technical tips! We actually tried different browsers already but I didn't think about the VPN - my husband does use one for work so maybe that's interfering. We'll try turning it off completely and clearing all browser data before trying again.

YES!!!!! ive been saying this 4 years!! they ABSOLUTELY target seasonal workers and make it harder. my dad works roofing and they ALWAYS find some \

I work with tax clients from many industries, and I haven't seen evidence of targeting specific industries. The verification issues seem to affect people equally across sectors. What DOES seem to be true is that seasonal workers who file repeatedly have more chances to encounter system glitches simply because they're using the system more frequently. Also, repeated claims sometimes trigger additional verification steps that one-time claimants don't face.

sorry ur having so much trouble! when this happened to me last year turns out my birthdate was entered as 05/06/85 in one system and 5/6/1985 in the other - seriously, just the formatting was different! called unemployment (took forever to get through) and the lady fixed it in like 2 minutes once i finally talked to someone. good luck!!

That's so frustrating! But helpful to know it might be something that simple. Did you just keep calling repeatedly until you got through?

yeah i called like 30+ times over 3 days before i got through. i started calling right when they opened at 8am and that seemed to help. so stupid that we have to jump through these hoops every year!

Quick update on this issue - PA UC recently made some changes to their interface with IDme. As of March 2025, you should now be able to see specifically WHICH field is causing the verification failure. Look for the

That's fantastic news about the update! We haven't tried filing again this week, so maybe we'll see this new feature. I'll definitely check his profile for any reset fields too. Thank you!

has he tried making a brand new IDme account? my cousin had this problem and he just deleted everything and started over with a fresh IDme profile and it worked

Creating a new IDme account when you already have one associated with your SSN can actually create MORE problems and potentially flag your account for fraud investigation. I would strongly advise against this approach. The better solution is to resolve whatever mismatch exists between the two systems.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your help! We FINALLY got this resolved. After trying all the technical suggestions (different browser, no VPN, etc.), we still couldn't get through IDme verification. \n\nWe ended up using Claimyr as suggested above and got through to a real person at PA UC in about 40 minutes. The agent was super helpful and found the problem right away - my husband's middle name was listed as \

Glad you got it resolved! This is exactly the kind of minor discrepancy that trips up the system all the time. And for future reference, you can actually request an IDme profile reset once per year if needed - though it's easier to just have UC modify their records to match as you did.

So glad you got this sorted out! This is exactly why I always tell people to keep detailed records of how their name appears in different systems. It's amazing how something as small as "Michael" vs "Mike" can cause such a headache. For anyone else dealing with this - definitely try Claimyr if you're stuck. I used it last year when I had a similar issue with my quarterly filing and it saved me weeks of frustration. The small fee was totally worth it compared to losing benefits while trying to get through on the phone. Also, @Miguel Silva - you might want to screenshot or write down exactly how your husband's name appears in both systems now that it's fixed. That way if this happens again next year, you'll know exactly what format to use!
