PA UC Final Monetary Determination showing but no payment after switching to direct deposit - aren't Wednesdays payday?
I'm so confused about my unemployment status. I got an email saying my "final monetary determination" was available in my dashboard, but I still haven't received any money. I switched from the Money Network card to direct deposit last week thinking it would be faster, but nothing has shown up in my bank account yet. I thought PA unemployment payments were processed on Wednesdays? It's been over a week since my monetary determination came through. Do I need to do something else to trigger the payments? The UC website is so confusing and I can't get through on the phone.

The "final monetary determination" just means they've calculated how much you're eligible to receive weekly and in total for your benefit year. It doesn't automatically mean payments have started. You still need to file weekly claims and have them approved. Did you file your weekly certifications? Also, the first payment is often delayed by 2-3 weeks after determination, especially if you switched payment methods.

•Yes I filed my weekly claims! I've been doing them every Sunday without fail. My dashboard shows they were all accepted too. So even though my determination says I'm eligible for $487 per week, I still have to wait longer? This is so stressful when bills are due.

•I got an email saying they received my direct deposit info, but nothing specifically saying the switch was complete. Maybe that's the issue?

I went through this exact situation in January. The "final monetary determination" is just establishing your benefit amount - it has nothing to do with payment timing. When you switch payment methods, it can cause a 7-10 day processing delay. Also, while payments are often processed on Wednesdays, it's not guaranteed - it depends on when your weekly claim was processed and approved. Check your claim status under "Payments" in your dashboard. If it shows "payment in process" that means it's coming. If there's an issue code, that means something is holding up your payment.

•Thank you! I checked and it says "payment in process" with today's date. So I guess that means it's working? Do you know how long it usually takes to hit my bank account after that status appears?

If it says "payment in process" that's good news! The first direct deposit after switching can take 2-3 business days to hit your account. After that initial one, they're usually much faster. If you don't see it by Monday, then you might want to call PA UC to check on it.

•That's a relief! I'll check my account over the next few days and hopefully it shows up. Thanks for explaining!

The whole system is RIDICULOUS!!! I waited SIX WEEKS after my monetary determination before seeing a penny!!! They kept saying "oh just wait" but no one could tell me WHY I was waiting! Every time I called it was busy signals or getting disconnected after waiting an hour. They don't care that people have bills and kids to feed while they take their sweet time!!!

•Ugh same. The waiting game is the worst part. I swear they intentionally make it confusing.

If you're having trouble reaching someone at PA UC to check on your payment status, I'd recommend using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last month - payment was supposedly "in process" but nothing showed up for over a week. Spent days getting busy signals until I found this service that gets you through to an actual UC agent. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent was able to see that there was a flag on my account from the payment method change that needed to be manually cleared. Got my payment two days later after weeks of waiting.

•Thank you for the suggestion! If my payment doesn't show up by Monday like the other person suggested, I'll definitely look into this. The busy signals are so frustrating when you're already stressed about money.

my neighbor had this problem. monetary final determination just means u qualify and for how much. its not about when u get paid. she had to wait like 10 days after switching to direct deposit bc they process in batches or something. if u just switched last week ur probably in the next batch.

•That's good to know, thanks! PA UC really should explain this better in their emails. The waiting is making me so anxious.

I got my final determination 3 weeks ago and STILL nothing. Called 63 times yesterday. This system is broken.

•Check if you have an "open issue" on your claim. That can hold up payments indefinitely until resolved. You can see this in your dashboard under claim status.

To summarize what everyone's saying: 1. Final monetary determination just establishes your eligibility and benefit amount 2. Switching payment methods typically causes a 7-10 day processing delay 3. Your "payment in process" status means money is coming, likely in 2-3 business days 4. After the first direct deposit, future payments should be more predictable The PA UC system doesn't communicate these details well, but it sounds like you're on track to receive your payment soon. If it doesn't arrive by Monday, then you'll need to contact them directly.

•Thank you so much for this clear explanation! I checked my account this morning and the payment actually arrived overnight! Such a relief. I wish the UC website explained things this clearly.

That's awesome news @Fatima Al-Rashid! So glad your payment came through! For anyone else reading this thread who might be in a similar situation - this is a perfect example of how the PA UC system works. The "payment in process" status really is reliable, it just takes a few days. Save yourself the stress of calling dozens of times if you see that status - just give it the 2-3 business days like everyone mentioned here.

•This whole thread has been so helpful! I'm new to PA UC and was panicking about my own situation. Seeing how @Fatima Al-Rashid s'payment came through after showing payment "in process gives" me hope. I switched to direct deposit two weeks ago and have been refreshing my bank account every hour. Going to try to be patient and wait the full business cycle before freaking out. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!
