Missed RESEA meeting deadline now PA UC payment on hold - anyone get this resolved?
So I totally messed up and completely forgot to schedule my mandatory RESEA meeting before the deadline. Now my PA UC payment is on hold and I'm freaking out a little. I immediately scheduled the meeting when I realized my mistake (it's set for next week), and I sent a message through the portal explaining that I just genuinely forgot to schedule it on time. Has anyone else made this mistake with the RESEA requirement? I'm worried they'll disqualify me or keep my payments on hold for weeks. Do they usually accept "I forgot" as a reason, or am I in serious trouble? I really need this money for my mortgage payment coming up.

same thing happend to me last month!! they kept my payment on hold for TWO WEEKS even after i did the meeting. its so dumb, like we're already stressed about being unemployed and now they expect us to remember every little thing on time. they should send better reminders!! 😡

•Two weeks?? Ugh, I can't wait that long. Did you have to do anything special to get your payments to start again, or did they just automatically resume after your meeting?

This is a fairly common issue with RESEA meetings. Here's what you need to know: The RESEA (Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment) meetings are federally mandated, so PA UC takes them very seriously. Since you've already scheduled the new appointment, that's good. After you attend the meeting, you'll need to continue filing your weekly claims as normal. Usually, payments resume within 1-2 payment cycles after you complete the RESEA requirements. Make sure to fully participate in the meeting and complete any assigned follow-up activities they give you during the session.

•This is why I HATE the PA unemployment system!!! They don't clearly explain all these stupid requirements then PUNISH us when we miss something. It's like they WANT to find reasons not to pay us what we're owed!!! I missed my RESEA thing last year and they made me appeal and wait SIX WEEKS before I got a penny!!

Hey just wanted to say I overslept and missed my actual RESEA appointment (not just the scheduling deadline) back in January and they let me reschedule. Had to wait about 10 days for payment but wasn't too bad

•That's reassuring! 10 days would be manageable for me. Did they ask you to provide any kind of proof or explanation for why you missed it?

I work at a career center and see this all the time. They won't disqualify you permanently for a first-time missed RESEA deadline. Attend your rescheduled meeting, be engaged, and come prepared with your job search records. The most important thing is to keep filing your weekly claims even while your payments are on hold! This ensures you'll get all back payments once the issue is resolved. Missing the scheduling deadline typically results in a shorter hold than missing an actual appointment.

•i agree about keep filing weekly even when on hold! my cousin didn't do that when he had some issue with his claim and he lost like 3 weeks of benefits cuz he didn't file while waiting on them to fix something with his account.

After struggling with PA UC for months, I finally found a way to actually get through to a human being on the phone - used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have this system that automatically calls UC for you until they get through, then connects you. Saved me hours of frustration when I had payment holds. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. For a hold like yours, talking directly to an agent is probably the fastest way to get clarity on exactly when your payments will resume after your RESEA meeting.

•That actually sounds really helpful. I've been trying to call them for days and just get busy signals. I'll check this out if my payments don't resume right after the meeting. Thanks!

•Thanks for the tip! I have been keeping records but they're kind of messy. I'll organize them better before the meeting.

One more thing to add - if the payment hold creates a financial hardship (like missing your mortgage payment), be sure to mention this during your RESEA meeting. The career advisors conducting these meetings have some discretion to expedite payments in hardship cases. Also, double-check that you don't have any other issues on your claim by looking at the "Claim Status" section in your portal. Sometimes people have multiple issues without realizing it.

•That's great advice! I just checked and thankfully there are no other issues showing on my claim. I'll definitely mention the mortgage situation during my meeting. Really appreciate everyone's help here!

Don't panic! I went through the exact same thing about 6 months ago. Missing the RESEA scheduling deadline is frustrating but not the end of the world. Since you already rescheduled and sent an explanation through the portal, you're doing everything right. In my case, they held my payments for about 8-10 days after I completed the makeup meeting. The key is to attend the meeting, participate fully, and bring all your job search documentation organized. They understand people make mistakes - it's not like you were trying to dodge the system. Just keep filing your weekly claims even while on hold so you don't lose any benefits. You should be back to normal payments within 2 weeks of your meeting date.

I'm in a similar situation right now - missed my RESEA scheduling deadline by 3 days and my payments got put on hold yesterday. Reading through all these responses is actually making me feel a lot better! It sounds like as long as we attend the rescheduled meeting and stay on top of our weekly filings, we should be okay. @Keisha Robinson when is your meeting scheduled? Mine is Thursday and I'm trying to get all my job search stuff organized beforehand. This whole system is so stressful when you're already dealing with unemployment!

•@Giovanni Moretti Mine is scheduled for next Wednesday! It s'definitely stressful but everyone s'responses here have been really reassuring. I m'spending this weekend getting all my job search records in order and making sure I have everything documented properly. Good luck with your Thursday meeting! At least we re'not alone in this mess. The system really should have better reminders about these deadlines.

I missed my RESEA deadline too about 3 months ago and was absolutely terrified! But honestly, it worked out fine. They held my payments for about 12 days after I completed the makeup meeting. The most important thing is that you already rescheduled - that shows good faith. When you go to your meeting, be honest about forgetting and show that you're actively job searching. Bring printouts of all your applications, a list of contacts you've made, and any networking activities. The counselors are usually understanding since they see this happen all the time. Just keep filing your weekly claims no matter what! I almost stopped filing when I was on hold and my counselor told me that would have been a huge mistake. You'll get through this - the system is frustrating but they're not trying to screw people over permanently.

•This is so helpful to hear! I was really worried they might be super strict about it, but it sounds like they understand these things happen. 12 days isn't too bad considering how stressed I was about potentially losing everything. I'm definitely going to print out all my job applications and make a nice organized folder for the meeting. Thanks for the reassurance about continuing to file weekly - I wasn't sure if I should keep doing that while on hold but now I know it's crucial!

I just went through this exact situation last month! Missed my RESEA scheduling deadline by 4 days and was absolutely panicking about my payments getting cut off. Here's what happened in my case: they held my payments for exactly 9 days after I completed the makeup meeting. The meeting itself wasn't bad at all - the counselor was actually pretty understanding when I explained that I had genuinely forgotten to schedule on time. She said they see this happen frequently and as long as you show up prepared and engaged, they don't hold it against you. Make sure to bring ALL your job search documentation organized in a folder - applications, networking contacts, job fair attendance, everything. Also keep filing your weekly claims religiously even while on hold! That was the most important advice I got. The back payments came through automatically once my hold was lifted. You're going to be fine - just attend that meeting and show them you're serious about your job search!

•@Effie Alexander That s'exactly what I needed to hear! 9 days sounds totally manageable and I m'so relieved that the counselors are understanding about genuine mistakes. I ve'been beating myself up about this all week thinking I was going to get permanently disqualified or something. I m'definitely going to create a nice organized folder with all my job search stuff - applications, networking notes, everything. It s'good to know they actually see this happen a lot. Thanks for mentioning the back payments come automatically too, I was wondering about that! This whole thread has been such a lifesaver for my stress levels.

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! Just missed my RESEA scheduling deadline by a few days and my payments got put on hold this morning. Reading through everyone's experiences here is honestly such a relief - I was convinced I was going to lose my benefits completely. It's so frustrating that they don't send clearer reminders about these deadlines, especially when we're already dealing with the stress of being unemployed. I managed to get my makeup meeting scheduled for next Friday and I'm already starting to organize all my job search records. Does anyone know if they're more flexible about the follow-up activities they assign during the meeting if you explain that missing the original deadline was just an honest mistake? I'm worried they might be extra strict with people who missed the first deadline.

•@Sunny Wang I don t'think they re'any stricter with the follow-up activities just because you missed the initial deadline! From what I ve'been reading here and my own research, they seem to understand that people make genuine mistakes. The counselors are more focused on seeing that you re'actively job searching and engaged in the process rather than punishing you for a scheduling mixup. Just come prepared with your documentation, be honest about what happened, and show enthusiasm for whatever activities they suggest. Most people here got through it just fine with standard follow-up requirements. You ve'got this!

I'm dealing with this exact situation too and honestly this thread has been a lifesaver! I missed my RESEA deadline by 2 days last week and have been losing sleep over it. Seeing everyone's experiences makes me feel so much better - it sounds like they really do understand that people make honest mistakes. I got my makeup meeting scheduled for this Thursday and I've been putting together a folder with all my job applications and networking contacts. The hardest part is just the waiting and not knowing exactly when payments will resume, but it helps knowing that most people here got back on track within 1-2 weeks after their meeting. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories - this community is amazing for support during such a stressful time!

•@StarStrider I'm so glad this thread is helping you too! I was literally having panic attacks about this until I found all these reassuring stories. It's crazy how the PA UC system can make such a simple mistake feel like the end of the world. Your Thursday meeting will go fine - just bring that organized folder and be honest about what happened. I've learned from everyone here that the key things are: keep filing weekly no matter what, attend the meeting prepared, and be patient with the 1-2 week timeline for payments to resume. We're all in this together and it's going to work out! Let us know how your meeting goes - I'm sure it'll help other people who find themselves in the same boat.

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who's been through this exact situation! I missed my RESEA scheduling deadline by almost a week back in September and was absolutely terrified I'd lose everything. But honestly, the process was way less scary than I expected. My payments were on hold for about 11 days after I completed the makeup meeting, and the counselor was actually really nice about the whole thing. She said they see missed deadlines constantly and what matters most is that you show up prepared and engaged. I brought a binder with all my job applications organized by date, networking contacts, and even screenshots of my LinkedIn activity. The meeting itself was actually helpful - they gave me some good resources I hadn't known about. Keep filing those weekly claims no matter what, and don't stress too much! The system is frustrating but they're not out to get us. You'll get through this just fine!

•@Natasha Orlova This is so reassuring to hear! I love that you brought a whole organized binder - that s'exactly what I m'planning to do. It s'funny how something that seemed like such a disaster at first actually turned into a helpful experience with new resources. 11 days for payment hold isn t'too bad at all. I m'really glad you mentioned that the counselors see this all the time - it makes me feel like less of a failure for missing the deadline in the first place. I keep reminding myself that we re'human and mistakes happen, especially when dealing with unemployment stress. Thanks for taking the time to share your positive experience - it really helps those of us going through this right now!

I went through this exact same situation about 4 months ago and wanted to share my experience to hopefully ease some of your worry! I missed my RESEA scheduling deadline by 3 days because I was dealing with a family emergency and it completely slipped my mind. Like you, I immediately scheduled the makeup meeting and sent an explanation through the portal. My payments were on hold for exactly 10 days after I completed the meeting. The counselor was very understanding when I explained what happened - she told me that life happens and they see genuine mistakes like this all the time. The most important things that helped me: 1) Keep filing your weekly claims religiously even while on hold, 2) Come to the meeting with organized job search documentation, and 3) Be honest and engaged during the meeting. They even gave me some helpful job search resources I didn't know about. Don't panic about your mortgage payment - the back pay will come through once the hold is lifted. You're going to get through this just fine!

•@Miguel Silva Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It s'such a relief to hear from someone who went through the exact same thing with a family emergency - that s'actually similar to my situation where life just got overwhelming and I genuinely forgot. 10 days seems to be the average from what everyone is saying, which gives me hope I can manage until then. I really appreciate you breaking down those three key points - I ve'been taking notes from everyone s'advice and will definitely have my job search stuff organized in a folder. It s'so reassuring to know the counselors are understanding about genuine life circumstances. This whole thread has honestly saved my sanity this week! I was spiraling thinking I d'lose everything over one mistake.

I'm going through this exact same situation right now and this thread has been such a huge help! I missed my RESEA scheduling deadline by 5 days last week and have been absolutely panicking about it. Reading everyone's experiences here is giving me so much hope - it sounds like they really are understanding about genuine mistakes and the payment holds are temporary. I managed to get my makeup meeting scheduled for next Tuesday and I'm spending this weekend organizing all my job search documentation into a proper folder like everyone suggested. It's so frustrating that the system doesn't send better reminder notifications, especially when we're already stressed about being unemployed. But hearing that most people got their payments restored within 1-2 weeks after the meeting makes this feel manageable. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories - this community support means everything when you're dealing with something this stressful!

•@Yuki Kobayashi You re'absolutely right about the reminder system being terrible! I just went through this same exact situation two weeks ago and was convinced my world was ending. But honestly, everyone here is giving you the real deal - the counselors really do understand that people make genuine mistakes, especially when you re'already dealing with unemployment stress. Your Tuesday meeting will go great if you come prepared with that organized folder. I brought mine in a three-ring binder sorted by date and the counselor was actually impressed with how thorough I was. My payments resumed exactly 8 days after the meeting, so you should be back on track soon! The waiting is definitely the hardest part but just keep filing those weekly claims and stay positive. This community has been such a lifesaver for moral support!
