How to know if my PA employer responded to UC questionnaire? Stuck in limbo

Filed for PA unemployment 3 weeks ago and my claim is still processing. My employer had to respond to some questionnaire according to the UC service rep I spoke with last week (after HOURS on hold). But I have no clue if they actually did? My dashboard just says 'pending employer information' but doesn't tell me anything else. There's no timeline showing. Anyone know if there's a way to check if they responded? Or how long I should wait before panicking? My savings are getting really low and my landlord isn't exactly the understanding type.

ur supposed to get a letter or email when they respond. check ur spam folder? i had like 5 notifications from them go to my junk email lol

I've been checking my spam folder daily and nothing. Should I be looking for an actual paper letter in the mail? I thought everything was electronic now.

The system doesn't always notify you when your employer responds. In my experience, the only way to know for sure is to call the UC service center directly. They can tell you if your employer has responded and what the current status is. By law, employers have 7 days to respond to the questionnaire, but many take longer and there isn't much enforcement of this timeline.

That's what I was afraid of... I've been trying to call them every day this week but keep getting busy signals or disconnected. Any tips on actually getting through to a human?

i had same issue last month!! my claim was stuck for 4 weeks because my boss was being a jerk and not responding. PA UC doesn't tell you anything until they make a decision. so frustrating!!!

Did you just have to wait it out or did you do something to get it moving? 4 weeks sounds like torture right now.

After fighting with PA UC for MONTHS last year when my employer didn't respond, I finally discovered Claimyr and it saved me so much stress! You pay them and they get you through to an actual UC rep on the phone without waiting all day. The rep told me exactly what was happening with my claim and why it was stuck. Seriously check out their demo video here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 - their website is claimyr.com. Totally worth it when you're desperate to get answers.

is that even legit?? sounds sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call

Here's what you need to know: After 7 days if the employer hasn't responded, PA UC is SUPPOSED to make a determination based on the info they have. But with their backlog, it often takes 3-5 weeks anyway. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them through your dashboard. Also, keep filing your weekly claims even while waiting for a determination! Many people forget this part and it causes even more delays.

Thanks for the reminder about weekly claims! I've been filing those. I tried the dashboard message system but got a generic response saying to wait for the determination. It's just hard not knowing if I'll ever get approved.

The standard procedure is as follows: 1. Your employer has 7 days to respond to the questionnaire 2. If they don't respond, UC will typically proceed with a determination based solely on your information 3. However, if there are other issues with your claim beyond the employer questionnaire, those will still need to be resolved The current average wait time for UC claim determinations with employer issues is approximately 21-28 days, though this can vary. Make sure you continue certifying weekly while waiting for your determination decision.

Thanks for laying it out so clearly. I'm at about 21 days now, so hopefully I'll hear something soon. I wonder if calling my former employer directly would help or just make things worse?

Contacting your former employer directly about their UC questionnaire response can sometimes help, but approach carefully. Be polite and simply ask if they've received and responded to the unemployment questionnaire. Don't be accusatory, as this could potentially make them less cooperative. Sometimes HR departments simply overlook these forms among their many responsibilities.

My neighbor works for PA UC (not posting this from my normal account for obvious reasons) and she says they're MASSIVELY behind right now. Like 5-6 weeks for regular determinations. The system is supposed to auto-approve if employers don't respond but that part of the system is broken half the time. The only way to really know what's happening is to get through to a rep who can actually see the notes on your claim.

This is accurate based on what I've seen recently too. The auto-approval after non-response was working during the pandemic but seems to be inconsistent now. Getting through to a representative is really the only way to get clarity on your specific situation.

UPDATE: I finally got through to PA UC this morning after trying that Claimyr service someone mentioned above. It actually worked! The rep told me my employer DID respond last week but there's another issue with my claim about my base year earnings that's holding things up. They're sending me a letter about it. At least now I know what's happening instead of being completely in the dark. Thanks everyone for your help!

Glad you got some answers! Base year issues usually mean they need to verify your wages from the quarters they're using to calculate your benefit amount. Make sure you have your pay stubs ready if they request them. Hope it gets resolved quickly for you!

That's such a relief that you finally got through and found out what was actually going on! The uncertainty is honestly the worst part of this whole process. Good luck with the base year earnings issue - hopefully that gets sorted out quickly once you provide whatever documentation they need.

So glad you finally got some clarity on your situation! The waiting game with PA UC is absolutely brutal, especially when you're stressed about finances. I went through something similar last year and the not knowing was honestly worse than the actual delay. At least now you can focus on getting the base year earnings issue resolved instead of wondering if your employer even bothered to respond. Keep us posted on how it goes - your experience might help someone else in the same boat!

Absolutely agree that the uncertainty is the worst part! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - been waiting 2.5 weeks with the same "pending employer information" status. Your update gives me hope that there might actually be progress happening behind the scenes even when the dashboard doesn't show it. Did the Claimyr service cost much? I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point.
