If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Current processing times are typically 2-3 weeks for clean claims, though it varies. Here's what affects the timeline: 1. If your employer contests your unemployment reason 2. If there are eligibility questions or "open issues" 3. If you worked in multiple states during your base year 4. If the system flags anything unusual about your work history Keep filing your biweekly claims even while waiting for approval. If approved, you'll receive all eligible back weeks at once. You'll receive your payments on a Money Network debit card unless you set up direct deposit.

Perfect, thank you so much for all your help! I'm going to finish my application now and will be sure to keep filing the biweekly claims while I wait. This forum has been super helpful!

Just wanted to add - if you run into any issues with your application or need to make changes after submitting, don't panic! I had to call back about a week after filing because I realized I put the wrong end date for one of my previous jobs. It took forever to get through (literally 4 hours of redialing), but they were able to fix it without having to restart the whole application. Also, make sure you save/screenshot your confirmation number after submitting - you'll need it if you have to call about your claim later. The system sometimes has glitches and having that number helps the agents find your case faster.

That's really good advice about saving the confirmation number! I definitely would have forgotten to do that. Quick question though - when you had to call back to fix the job dates, did they make you wait for the claim to be reprocessed from scratch or were they able to just update that one piece of info quickly?

does any1 else think its ridiculous they expect us to do all this just to get benefits WE EARNED through our jobs? careerlink workshops r mostly useless anyway & now we get punished for not doing them?? the whole system needs fixed

preach!! my last 'workshop' was just some boring powerpoint that taught me nothing. total waste of time but u gotta jump thru their hoops

Just following up - has anyone heard back about your appeal yet? In my experience, these work search disqualification appeals are taking about 3-4 weeks to process currently.

Just got my determination letter yesterday - appeal approved! They're reinstating my benefits. I had to get pretty detailed with my documentation and explain that I misunderstood the requirements. Thanks to everyone here who helped me navigate this!

That's amazing news! Congrats on getting it resolved. For anyone else going through this - what kind of documentation did you include that helped your case? I'm dealing with a similar situation and want to make sure I have everything covered.

Update: I talked to my WIOA counselor and she was super helpful! Turns out this happens all the time. She's giving me a letter confirming my training program is approved and helping me with the appeal. She also suggested I try calling UC directly to speed things up since sometimes they can fix it right away once they see you're in approved training. Will keep you all posted on what happens. Thanks for all the advice!

Great! Hope it works out for you. My brother went through the CDL program last year and is making good money now. Stick with it!

I went through something similar when I was doing my HVAC certification through WIOA last year. The key thing that helped me was getting my counselor to send the UC-1599 form directly to UC rather than just giving it to me to submit. For some reason, when it comes from the WIOA office directly, it seems to carry more weight with the UC system. Also, if you do end up using one of those callback services like Claimyr that someone mentioned, make sure you have all your paperwork ready before the call - your WIOA enrollment letter, training schedule, and the dates you reported the training on your claims. The UC reps can usually fix it on the spot if they have all the info. Don't stress too much - this really is a common glitch in their system and once a human looks at your case, it should get resolved quickly. The CDL program is worth sticking with even through this hassle!

That's really helpful advice about having the WIOA office send the form directly! I didn't know that could make a difference. I'm definitely going to ask my counselor about doing that when I see her tomorrow. And you're right about having all the paperwork ready - I've been scrambling to get everything organized. Thanks for the encouragement about the CDL program too, I'm trying to stay positive even though this UC situation has been so stressful.

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the stress of exhausting UC benefits while still actively job searching is absolutely devastating, especially with kids and a mortgage to worry about. Reading through all the excellent advice here, I wanted to add a few thoughts that might help: Have you considered reaching out to medical billing companies that specialize in workers' compensation or personal injury law firms? These are often overlooked niches that pay well and value experienced billers. Companies like MedRisk or CorVel frequently hire remote workers, and PI law firms often need billers who understand medical terminology. Also, while you're applying for emergency assistance, check if your mortgage servicer participates in any federal forbearance programs - even outside of the COVID programs, some lenders have hardship options that can pause or reduce payments temporarily. One thing that helped me during a similar period was setting up Google alerts for "medical billing jobs Pittsburgh" and "remote medical billing" - sometimes positions get posted on smaller company websites that don't show up on the major job boards. The fact that you're getting zero callbacks with 8+ years of experience really drives home how broken the current job market is. This absolutely isn't a reflection of your skills or work ethic. Keep pushing forward and don't hesitate to lean on every resource available - you and your family deserve that support. You're going to get through this! ❤️

Thank you so much for these specific suggestions! The workers' comp and personal injury law firm angle is absolutely brilliant - I never would have thought to look in those directions. I actually worked on some workers' comp billing at my last job, so that experience could really help me stand out. I'm going to research MedRisk and CorVel today and start reaching out to local PI law firms too. The Google alerts suggestion is really smart - I've been relying too much on the big job sites and probably missing opportunities on smaller company websites. Setting those up right now! And you're absolutely right about contacting my mortgage servicer. I've been dreading that conversation but putting it off isn't going to make the situation better. Better to be proactive and see what options might be available before I actually miss a payment. Thanks for the encouragement about this not being my fault. After months of rejection it's easy to start thinking there's something fundamentally wrong with me, but hearing from people who understand the reality of this job market helps keep me grounded. I really appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed advice - this community has been a lifeline during this nightmare! ❤️

I'm really sorry you're facing this situation - hitting that 26-week wall is absolutely terrifying, especially with kids and a mortgage depending on you. Reading through this thread, I'm struck by how many people are dealing with the same nightmare right now. One thing I wanted to add that I haven't seen mentioned yet - have you checked if any local credit unions offer emergency hardship loans? Some of them have programs specifically for people who've exhausted unemployment benefits and are actively job searching. The rates are usually much better than payday loans or credit cards, and they sometimes work with you on flexible repayment terms. Also, for medical billing specifically, you might want to look into dental billing as well. A lot of dental practices are struggling to find experienced billers right now, and your medical background would transfer over pretty easily. The billing software is different but the fundamental skills are the same. Don't give up hope - your 8+ years of experience is valuable, and this job market is just brutal right now. The fact that you're getting zero callbacks says everything about the current economy and nothing about your qualifications. Keep fighting, and please don't hesitate to use every resource available to you. You and your family deserve that support! 💪

This is such helpful advice about credit unions! I never thought about them having emergency hardship loans for people who've exhausted UC benefits. My local credit union has always been pretty good to work with, so I'll definitely call them this week to see what options they might have. That could really help bridge the gap while I'm waiting for other assistance programs to come through. The dental billing suggestion is really smart too - I've been so focused on medical that I completely overlooked dental practices. You're absolutely right that the fundamental billing skills would transfer, and if dental practices are having trouble finding billers, that could be a real opportunity. Do you know if dental billing typically pays similarly to medical billing, or is there usually a difference? Thanks for the encouragement about this job market. It really helps to hear from people who understand that this isn't about lack of effort or skills. Some days it's hard not to take the constant rejections personally, but comments like yours remind me that this is about the economy, not me. I'm going to keep pushing forward and using every resource available - my kids are counting on me to figure this out! 💪

Mei Lin

That's such a relief to hear! Gives me hope that mine might resolve without me having to spend days trying to get through on the phone. I'll keep certifying weekly and hope for the best. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hey Mei Lin! I went through almost the exact same situation about 6 months ago when I got laid off from my job in Pittsburgh. The eligibility question issue is SO frustrating - I also couldn't find a clear "laid off" option and ended up selecting something that didn't quite fit. Here's what worked for me: I called the PA UC line using the callback feature on their website (avoid calling first thing Monday morning - huge wait times). When I finally got through, the agent explained that "lack of work" is actually the closest option to being laid off, even though it's not obvious. She said "other; restricted hours" can sometimes trigger additional review because it suggests you might still be partially employed. For CareerLink - don't stress too much about what it's tracking. I kept a simple Google Doc with columns for Date, Company, Position, Method (Indeed/LinkedIn/etc), and Status. Never got audited, but having that backup documentation gave me peace of mind. One tip: if your claim stays stuck for more than 2 weeks, definitely call. Sometimes these things need a human touch to get unstuck. Good luck and hang in there!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Malik! That's really helpful to know about "lack of work" being the better option - I wish they made that clearer in the system. I'm definitely going to try the callback feature if my issue doesn't resolve soon. It's been about a week now so I'm hoping it clears up like Dylan's did, but good to know there's a better way to reach them than just calling blind. Really appreciate the Google Doc tip too - I've been using a spreadsheet but your column setup sounds more organized than what I have. It's reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same confusion and came out okay on the other side!
