Why didn't I get my unemployment payment from NYS Department of Labor this week?

I've been filing my weekly claims religiously for the past month and usually get paid on Tuesday but nothing showed up yesterday. My claim status still shows active and I answered all the questions the same as always. I worked 2 days last week and reported the hours like I'm supposed to. Is there something wrong with my account or did NYS Department of Labor mess up the payment? This is really stressing me out because I need that money for rent.

Check your payment history in your my.ny.gov account first. Sometimes there's a delay if you worked during the week - they have to calculate partial benefits. Also make sure you reported your gross earnings correctly, not net pay.

I checked and it just says 'payment processing' for this week. I did report gross earnings like $180 for the two days. Should I be worried?

same thing happened to me last week! turned out there was some kind of system glitch and everyone got paid a day late. maybe just wait another day?

If you're showing 'payment processing' that usually means they're reviewing your work hours. When you work partial weeks, NYS Department of Labor has to verify the earnings before releasing payment. It can take 2-3 extra days sometimes. As long as your benefit year is still active and you didn't hit any red flags, you should get paid.

What kind of red flags would cause a delay? I'm in the same situation and getting nervous.

Things like reporting inconsistent work schedules, earnings that don't match employer records, or if they randomly select your claim for audit. Most of the time it's just the system being slow with partial benefit calculations.

UGH the NYS Department of Labor payment system is SO unreliable!! I've had payments delayed for no reason multiple times. Sometimes they just decide to 'review' your claim out of nowhere even when you've been doing everything right for months. It's like they WANT us to suffer.

I feel you on this. The system definitely has issues but getting angry won't help. If you really need to talk to someone about a delayed payment, I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual NYS Department of Labor rep when I couldn't reach anyone myself. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

Never heard of that before but I might try it if my payment doesn't show up by Friday. Thanks for the suggestion!

Just wanted to say I had a similar issue a few weeks ago and it resolved itself after 3 days. Hang in there!
