What does distributed mean on NYS Department of Labor unemployment claim status?

I'm checking my claim status on my.ny.gov and it shows 'distributed' next to my weekly certification from two weeks ago. I've never seen this status before and I'm not sure what it means. Did my payment go through? Should I be expecting something in the mail? I usually get direct deposit but this week seems different. Has anyone else seen this 'distributed' status on their NYS Department of Labor account?

Distributed means your payment has been processed and sent out by NYS Department of Labor. If you have direct deposit set up, the money should hit your account within 1-2 business days. If you're getting a debit card, it means the funds have been loaded onto your card. You can check your payment history in your account to see the exact amount that was distributed.

Thank you! I was worried something went wrong. I do have direct deposit so I'll watch for it in my account.

The distributed status indicates that NYS Department of Labor has completed processing your weekly claim and released the payment. This is actually the final step in the payment process. If you're not seeing the money in your account after 3 business days, then you might want to contact your bank or check if there are any issues with your direct deposit information in your profile.

What if it says distributed but I never got anything? It's been a week now and my bank says no pending deposits.

You'll need to call NYS Department of Labor to trace the payment. Sometimes there can be issues with bank account changes or the payment gets returned. They can tell you exactly where the money went.

I had this same confusion last month! I was calling the NYS Department of Labor number constantly trying to get through to someone who could explain what distributed meant. After hours of busy signals and getting hung up on, I found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that actually got me through to a real person at NYS Department of Labor in like 10 minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. The agent confirmed that distributed means the payment is on its way and helped me understand my whole payment timeline.

Interesting, never heard of that before. The phone lines are definitely impossible to get through to.

DISTRIBUTED is such a confusing term! Why can't they just say PAYMENT SENT or something normal people understand?? The whole NYS Department of Labor system is designed to confuse us I swear
