Tried to certify and got 'paid all benefits due' message on NY unemployment - what gives?
Just attempted to complete my weekly certification and got hit with a message saying 'You have been paid all benefits due you on this claim.' I don't understand this at all. I've only been collecting for about 3 months and should have way more time left. Last payment came through fine just last week, and nothing has changed with my employment status. My benefit year isn't supposed to end until September 2023. Anyone else seeing this message when trying to certify this week? Do I need to file a new claim or what? The website isnt giving me any other information and I'm freaking out because I rely on these payments.

This happened to me last year. The system glitched and thought I had reached my maximum benefit amount when I was nowhere close. Took me two weeks to get it fixed because I couldn't reach anyone. Had to call like 50 times a day.

•50 times a day?? Ugh I don't have the patience for that. Was there any specific time that worked better for calling?

•Early morning right when they open or like 30 min before they close worked best for me. But honestly it was just luck.

•Dam 50 times? I can't even get through once. Did u try any tricks to get past the automated system?

After struggling like crazy to reach ny unemployment for weeks, I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me a callback with an actual rep on the line! Totally worth it since I got my issue fixed in one call and talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast. They even have a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•sounds like one of those ads that pops up everywhere. anyone ACTUALLY try this besides you? 🤔

•Yeah it's real! I was desperate after trying to call for 2 weeks straight. They just hold your place in line and call you when an agent picks up. Saved me hours of being on hold.

•wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? The unemployment system is so broken I'm willing to try anything at this point...

•It worked for me! Was skeptical too but I was at my wits end. They don't do anything with your claim - just connect you with a live rep so you can explain your situation yourself.

•another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol. But if it actually worked for someone I might give it a shot

The system has been SUPER glitchy lately. I was getting the same message last month when I tried to certify. Turns out they were doing some system maintenance and everything went back to normal the next day. Try again tomorrow?

Hmm check if you accidentally hit your BYE (Benefit Year End) date. Even though you've only collected for 3 months, sometimes the year end can trigger this message. You might need to refile even though you haven't used all benefits.

•But my BYE date is definitely in September, I triple checked the paperwork. Would it end early for some reason?

•Sometimes there are weird rules about quarters of employment that can affect it. Best to call and ask directly. The online info never covers all the exceptions.

If your monetary determination was for a lower amount than you expected, you might have burned through your benefits faster. They calculate based on your highest earning quarter, and if that was low, you get less weeks.

•This 👆 I was supposed to get 26 weeks but only got like 16 cuz of how they calculated my base period. Check your monetary determination letter.

READ THIS - COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE FOR DEALING WITH "ALL BENEFITS PAID" MESSAGE: This is a common issue with NY unemployment that I've helped several people navigate. Here are the possible reasons and solutions: 1. System glitch - Sometimes the system falsely thinks you've exhausted benefits. Try again in 24-48 hours, as it might resolve itself. 2. Quarter change - We just entered a new quarter in July, which can trigger system recalculations. The system might be adjusting your benefit amount or eligibility based on new quarterly data. 3. Benefit year issues - Even if your paperwork says September, internal systems sometimes miscalculate. This happens more often than they admit. 4. Hidden extensions - Sometimes the system is actually putting you on a different claim type but doesn't communicate this properly. SOLUTIONS: First, check your payment history to see exactly how many weeks you've been paid. Count them. Second, try certifying again tomorrow or Monday. Third, if it persists, you NEED to speak with a live agent. Regular benefits are 26 weeks, so if you've received fewer payments, something's wrong. The fastest way to reach someone is using Claimyr.com - I used it after trying for weeks to get through. They'll wait on hold and call you when a live agent is on the line. Worth every penny because getting a human on the phone resolves this 99% of the time. Lastly, if you manage to reach someone, specifically ask them to check for "claim transition issues" and "benefit year calculation errors" - using these terms helps them understand exactly what to look for. Good luck!

•Thank you SO MUCH for this detailed info! I just checked and I've only received 13 payments so definitely hasn't been 26 weeks. Will try again tomorrow and then try Claimyr if needed.

•This is really helpful info. Do the quarter changes always happen at the beginning of normal calendar quarters (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct)?

Maxwell St. Laurent
•Yes, quarterly changes follow the calendar quarters. July 1st just started Q3, so the timing matches perfectly with what OP is experiencing.

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Couldn't certify online so I just call the certification phone line (888-581-5812) and it worked fine there. worth a try 🤷♂️

•Didn't think of that! I'll check if I somehow have multiple claims in the system.

NY unemployment is a total dumpster fire rn. I talked to someone last week who said they're doing database migration and tons of people are getting random error messages. She told me just to keep trying every day until it works 🙄

DID YOU VERIFY YOUR ID THROUGH ID.ME??? They're automatically stopping benefits for anyone who hasn't completed that verification process, even if you've been claiming for months already.

Seraphina Delan
•Yeah I did the ID.me thing when I first applied. Is there a way to check if it's still valid?

Charity Cohan
•Log into id.me and check if your verification is still linked to NYSDOL. Sometimes the connection breaks for no reason.

This is why I switched to certifying by phone only. The website is trash and gives random errors all the time. Call the automated line and it'll probably work fine.

My friend just went thru this exact thing. Turned out they flagged her account for a quarterly review but never notified her. She couldn't claim for 3 weeks until she got someone on the phone who unflagged it and she got backpay.

Seraphina Delan
•That would make sense with the timing. Did she have to provide any additional documentation during the quarterly review?
0 coins
Shelby Bauman
•Nope! The rep just had to manually override something in the system. Took like 5 minutes once she actually got someone on the phone.

I swear they do this on purpose to discourage people from collecting. Make the system so frustrating that people give up. Been dealing with ny unemployment for too long to believe its just "glitches" anymore 😤

•100% this! The system is designed to fail. My cousin works in govt (not unemployment) and says its called "administrative burden" - they make it hard on purpose.

•fr fr 💯 they hope we'll just give up and stop trying to get what we're entitled to

Have you been reporting all work/income correctly each week? If you made a mistake in reporting, they sometimes cut off benefits automatically.
0 coins
Seraphina Delan
•I haven't had any income to report - been completely unemployed since I filed. So that can't be it.

If regular certifying doesn't work, try submitting a message through the secure message center on your account. Sometimes they respond within a day or two and can fix it remotely.

Screenshot the error message. Seriously. I had a similar issue and when I finally got through, the rep said "oh we need to see the exact wording of the error" and I didn't have it. Delayed my fix by another week while I waited for it to happen again.

Call your state assembly person's office!! Seriously they can work magic with unemployment issues. I was stuck for 6 weeks then my assemblyman's office fixed it in 2 days.

•This is the real pro tip. Government officials have special contact channels that bypass the regular phone lines.

•How do u find ur assembly person? Is that like a congressman or something else?

•Google "NY state assembly member" + your neighborhood or zip code. They'll have a constituent services office that handles stuff like this.
