Stuck after ID.me verification, NY unemployment won't process benefits for 3 weeks

I completed the ID.me verification thing for ny unemployment about 7 buisness days ago. I gave consent for them to access my information but I haven't gotten any benefits for like 3 weeks now. When I try to log into my account, the system stops me right after I enter my social security number and keeps telling me I need to do ID.me verification even though I already finished it. I cant even check the status of my claim. I've tried calling but never get through to anyone. Is there any phone number where I can actually talk to a real person? This is getting ridiculous and I need this money for rent.

Im in the exact same boat. Did the ID.me verification like 9 days ago and still nothing. The system is completely broken. I cant even access my account to see whats going on. I've been calling that 888 number for days and it just hangs up on me.

Try calling super early like 7:30am! Sometimes they answer then before the queue fills up.

i tried calling early but the automated system just tells me to call back later. this is so frustrating 😡

Yeah I tried the early morning thing too. No luck. Just the same automated garbage and then it hangs up.

I was dealing with this exact ID.me nightmare last month. After trying for WEEKS, I finally found a solution that worked. I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to an actual person at unemployment. They stay on hold for you and call when an agent picks up. Best money I ever spent - got my account fixed and backpay within 48 hours. Check out their explanation video: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Wait, does this actually work? I've been trying to get through for almost a month now 😩

100% worked for me. The agent I spoke with was able to override whatever was blocking my account after the ID.me thing. I got all my backpay by the end of the week.

sounds like another scam to me. why would I pay someone to make a phone call? 🤔

not a scam at all. they just handle the hold time which was like 3+ hours when I called. talking to an actual human at unemployment fixed everything - the agent was able to see I had completed ID.me and remove the block on my account.

The whole ID.me system is garbage. I had to do it twice because the first time it randomly failed to send my info to DOL even though it said it was successful. The second time worked but took 12 days to process. What finally worked was contacting my state assemblyman's office - they have a direct line to DOL and got my issue fixed in 3 days.

Listen carefully - here's what you need to do: First, check if your ID.me account shows that consent was properly given. Log into ID.me directly (not through the unemployment portal) and make sure your identity verification status is complete and consent is shown as granted to NY DOL. Second, try clearing your browser cache completely or use an entirely different browser. The unemployment site has terrible cookie issues that can cause login loops. Third, if you're still locked out, you need to reach a human. Regular calling rarely works. Your options are: 1. Use the callback service at claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold and connect you with an agent (this worked instantly for me) 2. Contact your local state assembly member's office 3. Try the alternate number: 888-209-8124 (sometimes less busy than the main line) 4. Send a secure message through the unemployment portal if you can access it The ID.me verification has a backlog right now, but a human agent can override it if they see you've completed the steps. Don't wait another week - your benefits won't automatically start flowing without intervention.

I can vouch for the claimyr thing. Used it yesterday and got through in 2 hours. The agent was able to fix my account right away. Said lots of ppl having ID.me issues right now.

Have u tried twitter? Sometimes if u tweet at @NYSLabor they actually respond. That's how I got my issue fixed last year.

i dont have twitter but maybe ill make one just for this. did they respond pretty quick when you tried?

The ID verification thing is a complete joke. took me over 2 months to get it straightened out. they kept saying it was verified but the system wasn't recognizing it. what a clown show 🤡

my cousin works for the DOL (not in NY). she says the ID.me backlog is MASSIVELY backed up nationwide right now because of all the fraud. even after verification, theres a manual review process that can take 3-4 weeks for some people.

3-4 WEEKS??? i cant wait that long! i have bills due now 😭

This is why you need to talk to a live person who can bypass the wait. Regular processing is backed up forever but agents can override it.

yea unfortunately the system is way overwhelmed. best bet is to get a human on the phone who can push it through manually. automated system is beyond broken

The exact SAME thing happend to my wife. She was stuck in this loop for almost a month. She finally called using claimyr.com and got it fixed in one phone call. The agent she spoke with said the ID.me verification went through but there was a flag on her account that needed manual removal. These things dont fix themselves - you need to talk to someone.

is claimyr really worth it? seems sketchy to me

100% worth it after weeks of not getting through. my wife tried calling herself for DAYS with no luck. with claimyr she got through in under 2 hours and fixed everything. beats losing weeks of benefits.

just checked out their site and it actually makes sense... they literally just wait on hold for you and call when a person picks up. genius tbh

There's a glitch in the system where it keeps asking for ID.me even after you've done it. I was on the phone with a rep yesterday (finally got through after using Claimyr) and they told me they're seeing this issue constantly right now. They have to manually mark your account as verified in their system. You HAVE to talk to someone to fix it - it won't resolve itself.

how long did it take to get through with claimyr?

for me it was about 90 minutes from when I started until I was talking to someone. way better than the 200+ times I tried calling myself

I dont understand why they make it SO HARD to actually talk to a person. It's absurd that in 2023 we can't get basic customer service from a government agency we pay taxes to support. 🤦‍♂️

I'm an IT person and worked with the ID.me system before. There's definitely a syncing issue between their system and the DOL database. Even after verification, sometimes the status doesn't get properly transmitted. Only a DOL rep can force a refresh of your status in their system.

so basically im stuck unless i can talk to someone? great 😑

Unfortunately yes. The technical issue won't resolve itself - someone has to manually update your status in their system to show the ID.me verification was completed.

Had the EXACT same problem back in February. Turns out my ID.me verification actually failed but the system never told me. When I finally got through to a person, they were able to see exactly what was wrong and help me fix it. Don't waste weeks waiting - find a way to talk to a human!

OMG I'm so tired of hearing about ID.me problems!!! Its literally on every unemployment forum. They need to fix this garbage system or go back to the old way. Too many people are suffering because of their crappy technology 😡

FR FR it's a complete disaster. My theory is they make it difficult on purpose to reduce how many people successfully claim benefits.

conspiracy theory much? 🙄 its just typical government inefficiency

-

nah man look at the stats! since they implemented id.me the number of people successfully getting benefits dropped like 22%. that aint a coincidence
