New York Unemployment: When do benefits start after waiting week?
Filed my unemployment claim two weeks ago and just completed my first waiting week. Been certifying every sunday but haven't seen any money hit my account yet. Anyone know when payments usually start coming through? Getting worried since rent is coming up.

Usually takes about 2-3 weeks after your waiting week to see the first payment. Make sure you keep certifying every week even if you haven't gotten paid yet, they'll backpay you for those weeks.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone about this. Used claimyr.com - its this service that calls and waits on hold, then connects you when they get someone. Costs $20 but worth it to get answers. Check out their demo: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Here's what you need to know about the timeline: First, make sure your claim is actually completed and there's no outstanding docs they need. Check your online account for messages. Keep certifying weekly - this is super important! If it's been more than 3 weeks since your waiting period, something might be wrong. Best bet is to get an agent on the phone. I recommend using claimyr.com to get through - way better than spending hours trying to call yourself. The good news is once it starts, they'll backpay everything you're owed. Just document everything and save your certification confirmations.
