NYS Department of Labor showing zero unemployment benefits - account error or normal?
My NYS Department of Labor account is showing zero unemployment benefits available when I try to file my weekly claim. I was laid off from my retail job three weeks ago and filed my initial claim right away. The first week it showed a benefit amount of $365, but now when I log into my.ny.gov it just shows $0 everywhere. Is this some kind of system glitch or did something happen to my claim? I haven't received any notices about being disqualified and I've been doing my job searches every week like required.

This usually happens when your claim goes into adjudication or there's an issue that needs review. Check if there are any pending issues in your account - sometimes they don't send notifications right away. Your claim might be under review for your separation reason or work history verification.

•I don't see any pending issues listed anywhere in my account. Should I be worried about this?

•How did you find out your employer contested it? Did they send you something in the mail?

I had success reaching a NYS Department of Labor agent through Claimyr recently when my account was showing similar issues. They have a service at claimyr.com that helps you get through to someone quickly instead of trying to call for hours. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. An agent was able to tell me exactly why my benefits weren't showing and what I needed to do to fix it.

•How much does that cost? I'm already struggling financially and can't afford expensive services right now.

•It's definitely worth checking out their site for the details. For me it was much better than spending days trying to get through on my own.

The NYS Department of Labor system is completely broken! This happens to people constantly and they never explain what's going on. I've been fighting with them for months over different issues and they just give you the runaround every single time.

•I feel your frustration but that doesn't really help the OP figure out what's wrong with their specific situation.

def call them or your gonna wait forever for answers. the zero benefits thing usually means theres some kind of hold on your account that you cant see from the website
