NYDOL: Can't file unemployment claim online due to broken phone screen. Help!

My phone screen is completely busted and I can't apply for unemployment online. Has anyone else dealt with this? What can I do to file my claim when I can't use the website?

Ugh, that sucks! Have you tried calling the unemployment office directly? They might be able to help you file over the phone.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but can't get through. It's so frustrating!

Good luck with that. I spent hours on hold last week and never got through. The phone system is a joke 🤡

Damn, that's rough. Maybe try calling right when they open? Might have better luck then.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/fU4YuziZLxI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical too, but I can confirm it's real. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone 😬

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, ya know? 🤷‍♂️

Have you considered going to the library? They usually have public computers you can use for free. Might be able to file your claim there.

This happened to me last year! I ended up borrowing my neighbor's tablet to file. Do you have any friends or family with a spare device you could use?

That's a good idea, I'll ask around. Thanks!

The whole system is broken af. Why don't they have better options for people without internet access? Not everyone has a smartphone or computer smh

Here's what you can do: 1. Try calling the unemployment office early in the morning, right when they open. Keep redialing if you get a busy signal. 2. Check if your local library or community center has public computers you can use. 3. Ask a friend or family member if you can borrow their device to file your claim. 4. Some unemployment offices have physical locations where you can file in person. Look up if there's one near you. 5. If all else fails, you might need to get your phone fixed or replaced ASAP. Some repair shops offer same-day service. Remember to explain your situation to the unemployment office. They might be able to make accommodations or extend deadlines if you're having technical difficulties. Good luck!
