NY unemployment effective days missing after system maintenance - anyone else?
My NY unemployment claim suddenly shows 0 effective days remaining after the system maintenance last weekend! I've only been claiming for 10 weeks, and I should have plenty left. When I try to certify for this week, it gives me an error saying 'no effective days available' but I'm 100% sure I should have at least 16 more weeks. Has this happened to anyone after the April 2025 system update? I called the help line but after 2 hours waiting, I got disconnected. I'm freaking out because I need this money for rent next week and I can't even file my weekly certification now!

This is actually a common display issue after the April system maintenance. The effective days counter is showing incorrectly for many people, but your benefits are still there. You can try these steps:\n\n1. Log out completely\n2. Clear your browser cache and cookies\n3. Wait 30 minutes\n4. Log back in using a different browser\n\nIf that doesn't work, you'll need to speak with a claims specialist to have them manually reset your effective days counter. About 80% of people have their display fixed within 48 hours automatically though.

Thanks! I tried those steps but it still shows 0 days. It's been almost 72 hours now and I'm getting really worried. Do you know if I'll miss my payment for this week if I can't certify by Sunday?

Try calling right when they open at 8am. That's what I did and only waited about 20 minutes. They fixed mine in like 5 minutes once I got through.

I used Claimyr to reach an agent about this exact issue this morning. Took less than 30 minutes to get connected to a real person who fixed it on the spot. They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - and their website is claimyr.com. Totally worth it because the agent explained this is happening to tons of people after the maintenance and could take weeks to resolve on its own.

I was skeptical but tried Claimyr last week for a different issue. They actually did get me through to someone who fixed my problem. They don't tell you this on the website but you need to be ready with your NY.gov ID and PIN before they call you.

I'm going to try this tomorrow. Just can't afford to miss another week of benefits!

My friend had this EXACT problem!!! She said it's because they're switching to the new UIBL system and there's major glitches. She kept calling for THREE WHOLE DAYS and when she finally got through they said it's a known issue affecting like 40% of claims but your money is still there they just have to manually reset something on their end. So frustrating!!!!

Thank you! I'll make sure to use those exact words when I get through. Did they backdate your certification for the missed week?

I had this issue and it actually fixed itself after about 4 days. Just keep checking your account. One thing to note is that you CAN still certify by phone even if the website gives you that error. Call the Tel-Service number at 888-581-5812 and follow the prompts for weekly certification. The phone system doesn't have the same glitch.

OMG thank you! I just tried the phone certification and it worked! It accepted my certification even though the website still shows 0 days. What a relief!

If your certification was processed late in the week (Thursday or Friday), your payment might roll over to the following payment cycle. It's also worth checking that your direct deposit information is still correct in the system - sometimes the maintenance resets payment preferences.

This is EXACTLY why I screenshot EVERYTHING in my account every single week! They pulled this same stunt in January and tried telling me I had already used all my benefits. I had to send them my screenshots showing I had 22 weeks left before their \

Good advice! I'm going to start doing this too. Do you just take screenshots of the main claim page or are there specific sections that are more important to document?

UPDATE: I got through this morning after using Claimyr (thanks for the recommendation). The agent confirmed it was just a display issue from the maintenance and reset my effective days counter. She also processed my certification for this week manually. The payment should be in my account within 3 business days. For anyone else with this problem, definitely mention \

Great news! Glad you got it resolved. Did they say how long it will take for the system to be fully fixed for everyone?

The agent said they're hoping to have all accounts fixed by the end of next week, but there are thousands affected so they're prioritizing people who call in. She recommended everyone with this issue should call rather than waiting for the automatic fix.
