NY unemployment direct deposit missing after October certification - system showing wrong date
Has anyone else run into issues with their direct deposit this week? I certified for my NY unemployment benefits on January 7th (2025) but still haven't received payment. The weird part is when I log into my account, it says I already certified for this week, but shows my last certification date as December 31st. There's clearly some kind of glitch happening. My rent is due soon and I'm getting nervous about this delay. Anyone experiencing similar problems or know what might be going on?

I had the EXACT same issue last week! The system was showing my old certification date but not processing the new one. After trying to call for 3 days (impossible!), I finally used this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual NYSDOL rep in about 20 minutes. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a demo video here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE Turns out there was a system-wide glitch that affected a bunch of people who certified on the 31st and then again in January. The agent had to manually override something in my account, and my payment showed up 2 days later. Definitely worth getting through to someone.

•Thank you! I'm desperate at this point so I'll check out that Claimyr thing. Did they explain why this happened? I'm worried it might keep happening every month.

•This happens at the beginning of every year. The system gets overloaded with new claims and recertifications. The date showing is probably from last year, not December 31st. If you check your payment history, does it show any pending transactions?

There's definitely a technical issue with the NYSDOL system right now. I've seen several posts about this same problem across different forums. The certification dates are displaying incorrectly for many users who certified between Dec 31 and Jan 8. My suggestion: 1. Take screenshots of your certification confirmation (if you have it) 2. Check your payment history tab, not just the main page 3. Try to reach an agent through the phone system 4. If you can't get through, use the message system in your online account - be very specific about the dates and the issue In my experience, these technical glitches usually resolve within 5-7 business days, but it's better to be proactive about it rather than waiting.

lol why am i not surprised the system is broken AGAIN. happens every single time theres a holiday or start of new quarter. you'd think with all the money they spend on "upgrading" the system it would actually WORK!!

•I know right?? I've been on NY unemployment for 3 months now and EVERY SINGLE TIME there's a holiday the system breaks down!!! I'm so tired of having to worry if my money will come through... does anyone know if they backdate the payments once they fix it? I'm wondering if I should just use my emergency fund to cover my bills or if I should wait?

This happened to my brother too! He got his money yesterday though and he certified on the 6th. Maybe check your bank account to see if it went through anyway?

•Just checked my bank account again and still nothing. Glad your brother got his payment though - gives me hope that the system is working for some people at least!

Update for everyone: I just spoke with someone at NYSDOL (finally got through after trying repeatedly during non-peak hours). They confirmed there IS a system issue affecting certifications made between December 30th and January 8th. The technical team is working on it, and they expect all payments to be processed by this Friday. You don't need to recertify - doing so might actually complicate things further. They're aware of the issue with the dates showing incorrectly in the system. If you don't receive your payment by Friday, then you should contact them again. But for now, they're asking for patience as they work through the backlog.

•Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this info! That's a huge relief to know it's a known issue and they're working on it. I'll hang tight until Friday before panicking more.

For anyone still dealing with this: I work with a community assistance program, and we're seeing this issue affect quite a few people. The NYSDOL is processing these delayed payments in batches based on certification date. If you certified on the 7th like the original poster, you should see your payment by tomorrow or Friday at the latest. The technical issue was related to the system not properly recognizing certifications that crossed the calendar year boundary. It's something they've actually encountered in previous years as well. One important note: make sure your direct deposit information is current and accurate. Some people have had their payments delayed further because they changed banks recently but didn't update their profile.

I'm having a similar issue but mine says I've exhausted my benefits?? But I've only been collecting for 8 weeks! Does anyone know if this could be related to the same glitch? I'm freaking out because I have no idea what's going on and I NEED this money for my car payment!!

•That sounds like a different issue, but could still be related to the system glitches happening right now. I'd recommend creating a new post specifically about the "exhausted benefits" message so people with that exact experience can help you. In the meantime, definitely try to reach an agent to explain your specific situation.
