Got my past payments from NY unemployment after multiple calls - is processing time the same as weekly claims?
After literally weeks of trying, I finally managed to get through to NY unemployment and had two back payments released from October. Weirdly, I was able to get through to reps several times over the past few days (guess they must have added more staff or something?). Had to explain my situation over and over again to different people but it eventually got resolved. Now I'm wondering - is the processing time for these backpayments going to be the same as when I do my regular weekly claims? Regular payments usually hit my account in 2-3 business days. Anyone know if backpayments follow the same timeline?

From my experience, backpayments sometimes take a little longer to process than regular weekly claims. My regular claims always hit within 2 days, but when I got backpay for August and September, it took about 4-5 business days to show up in my account. Not sure why there's a difference but that's just what happened with me.

•Mine took a week for backpay, regular claims 2 days. System makes no sense 🙄

After trying for weeks to get through on the phone, I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got a callback with an actual live agent. Talking to a human rep got my $ released so fast - totally worth it after wasting so many hours on hold! They even have a YouTube video showing how it works https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Yeah it actually works! I was skeptical too but was desperate after spending hourssss on hold. They just keep calling for you and then connect you when someone answers. Saved my sanity honestly.

•sounds too good to be true... another 'miracle solution' that probably doesn't do anything 🙄

•Trust me I felt the same way but was absolutely desperate. Had been trying for WEEKS. It's just an auto-dialer that keeps trying until someone picks up. Then they connect you to talk to the agent. My benefits were released right after I finally talked to someone.

•I tried this too after seeing it mentioned here. Got connected to an agent in about 45 minutes when I had been trying for days on my own. claimyr.com for anyone else stuck in phone hell

in my eXperience, back pay has been all over the place. somtimes it comes with weekly payment, sometimes takes like a week later. theres no consistency with ny unemployment AT ALL. its like they just making up the rules as they go along 🤬

How did you manage to get thru multiple times? Been trying to reach them for 2 months about missing payments from November! Their phone system is pure hell

•I honestly tried different times of day instead of just mornings. Had better luck calling around 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Also kept redialing immediately if I got disconnected instead of giving up.

•I couldn't get through for weeks until I used claimyr.com - they kept dialing for me and got me connected to a real person who fixed my claim right away

Back payments DO process differently! When I got my backpay for 3 weeks in December, it came as one lump sum separate from my regular payment. The regular weekly payment hit my account Tuesday as usual, but then the backpay showed up Thursday as a separate deposit. Don't worry if they don't all come at once.

•That's good to know! I'll keep an eye out for separate deposits then.

The real question is did they release all the money they owe you? Double check the amounts carefully! I had similar situation last month where they said they released my back payments but they only sent part of what I was owed. Had to call AGAIN to get the rest. 😤

•Omg never even thought about that. I'm going to check all my records again and make sure the amounts match up. Thanks for the heads up!

•No prob! NY unemployment is notorious for "forgetting" parts of claims. Always triple check everything!

For anyone having trouble getting through on the phone to NY unemployment - I HIGHLY recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that will keep calling for you and then connect you when a real person answers. After 3 weeks of trying to get through on my own, I got connected in under an hour using their service. Talking to an actual human got my issue fixed immediately. They basically: - Keep calling the unemployment office for you - Stay on hold so you don't have to - Alert you when a real person answers - Connect you directly to the agent Saved me so much frustration and my benefits were released right after I finally spoke with someone. Definitely check out their site or their YouTube video that explains how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE As for your question about processing time - in my experience, backpay usually takes 3-5 business days, a bit longer than regular weekly claims. But it varies person to person.

•hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

•It's not some complicated service - it literally just autodials and stays on hold for you. You're still the one who talks to the rep. They just handle the awful hold time part. That's it!

•Can confirm this works. Used it last week after being on hold for FOUR HOURS myself. Got a callback in 50 minutes with an actual human on the line. Worth every penny to not waste an entire day on hold.

Anyone else notice the ny unemployment website goes down EXACTLY when you need it most? 🤬 I swear they do maintenance during peak hours on purpose

•The entire system is designed to be frustrating. They hope people will just give up.

When I got backpay in november it came in exactly 48 hours just like my regular payments. I think it really depends on ur bank too. Some banks hold deposits longer than others.

•I used the regular number (888-209-8124) but tried calling at different times. Had better luck in the afternoons around 2-3pm.

•Protip: if the normal number doesn't work, try using claimyr.com. They'll wait on hold and connect you directly to an agent when one is available. Saved me hours of frustration.

y'all are lucky to even get through! I've been trying since January and can't even get past the automated system. When I finally do, it hangs up on me after being on hold for 2+ hours. ny unemployment is literally the worst system in the country.

quick tip: if u get a rep who doesn't seem helpful, politely hang up and try again. some reps are WAY better than others. took me 3 different people before someone actually knew how to help with backpay. don't settle for the first person who gives u a generic answer!

•This is actually what worked for me! First person told me nothing could be done, second person tried but couldn't figure it out, third person fixed it in like 5 minutes.
