Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! Companies can just lay people off whenever they want and workers get scraps. I've been dealing with NYS Department of Labor for months trying to appeal a disqualification and it's like they don't even care about people's lives

definitely file!! the worst they can say is no and at least you'll know for sure. restaurant workers get screwed over all the time with hour cuts, you deserve benefits if you qualify
This exactly. The system is designed to help people in situations like yours. Don't let them intimidate you out of applying.
One thing to keep in mind is that you have to be separated from work through no fault of your own. Since your hours were cut by the employer and you didn't quit or get fired for misconduct, you should be fine on that requirement. Just be honest about your situation when you file your claim and during any potential phone interviews.

its because if everyone has jobs then employers cant find workers when they need to expand or replace people who retire. also wages would go crazy high because companies would be bidding against each other for the few available workers

This reminds me of when I was on standby status last year waiting for my factory to reopen... even though I wasn't technically unemployed, I was still part of the unemployment statistics. The whole system is more complex than just 'jobs good, no jobs bad'.
