If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

If you do have trouble reaching NYS Department of Labor by phone, I recently discovered this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that helps you get through to agents. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. I used it when my claim was stuck in adjudication and actually got to talk to someone within a few hours instead of spending days trying to call. Might be worth checking out if you run into issues.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully I won't need it but good to know there are options

never heard of that but anything is better than sitting on hold for hours

Just wanted to say hang in there! I was so stressed when I got laid off last year but the unemployment benefits really helped bridge the gap. Make sure you start applying for jobs right away too because you'll need to show job search activities for your weekly claims.

The whole system is such BS honestly. They make it so complicated and scary that people are afraid to work even part time. Like why can't they just have simple rules that everyone understands?? I've been too worried to take ANY work because I don't want to accidentally mess something up.

I totally get the frustration but the rules really aren't that complicated once you understand them. The main thing is just being honest about your earnings and hours worked. NYS Department of Labor wants people to work part time - it's better for everyone.

Just to add some specifics - you also need to make sure you're still available for full-time work and actively job searching. The part-time work can't interfere with your availability for interviews or full-time positions. And you still need to do your required job search activities each week.

Check your my.ny.gov messages too sometimes they post the determination there before the letter arrives. Also make sure your address is current because if the letter gets returned your case could get delayed even more.

Good point about the address! I moved last month but I think I updated it. Better double check that now.

Just wanted to add that if the appeal was decided in your favor, you might also need to resume filing weekly claims right away to continue getting benefits going forward. The back pay is separate from your ongoing weekly claims.

omg this is so confusing, i just want to know if my benefits will get cut off early if unemployment drops too much in my area?? like if they decide the job market is 'good enough' does that mean no more weekly claims??

Your regular 26 weeks of UI benefits won't be affected by unemployment rates dropping. You'll get those regardless. It's only the Extended Benefits (additional weeks beyond 26) that depend on unemployment rate triggers.

my brother in law works for the state labor department (not NYS tho) and he says they target around 4.5% because that means almost everyone who wants work can find it, but there's still enough job turnover to keep the economy flexible. dunno if NYS Department of Labor uses the same logic

WAIT so they don't use your annual salary?? I've been assuming my $48k salary would just be divided by 52 weeks or something. This is so confusing why can't they just make it simple!

0 coins

No, it's quarterly based because your earnings can vary throughout the year. Using the highest quarter ensures you get benefits based on your best earning period during the base period.

Remember you also have to pay taxes on unemployment benefits now, so factor that into your budgeting. They'll send you a 1099-G at the end of the year.
