I bet if u call they'll just tell you to check the website which tells u to call them π the circle of NY unemployment life
π€£ too real. The ultimate bureaucratic loop
Hahaha this is exactly what I'm afraid of π
Does anyone know if they're still doing those phone interviews after filing a new claim? I had to go through that last time and it was a nightmare.
whatever you do, DO NOT stop certifying weekly just because your payment is pending. keep doing it every week or you'll create even more problems for yourself.
You can reach NYSDOL by phone if you're persistent or use a service. I finally got through after trying claimyr.com and they handled everything for me. Got all my back pay from the delayed claims within days after speaking to someone. So worth it not to waste hours upon hours trying to call them yourself.
Anyone who files for NY unemployment benefits now has to verify their identity through ID.me - it's mandatory statewide. Even if you filed by carrier pigeon you'd still need to do it lol. The system should have told you right away tho instead of making you wait 3 weeks. smh the incompetence is astounding
filed by carrier" pigeonπππ
The ID.me thing is super annoying but once you do it you should get paid pretty quick after. I had to video chat with someone because my drivers license photo didn't match my current appearance (I had way longer hair). The whole process took about an hour.
try the callback feature on their website. i requested a callback and actually got one... 3 weeks later π but at least I eventually got to talk to someone
I've tried that twice. First time they never called, second time they called when I was in the bathroom and then wouldn't call back again.
Pssst... here's a secret most people don't know: if you file a formal complaint with the NY State Attorney General's office about your unemployment claim, DOL has to respond within 10 business days by law. That's how I finally got my backpay after 4 months of nothing. https://ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds/Filing-a-Consumer-Complaint
π Definitely trying this. The regular channels are completely useless.

yo I tried calling 300+ times over two weeks and nothing. Then used claimyr.com and got connected to a real person in like 45 mins. talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast. they just call and wait on hold for you then connect when someone answers.

β’it's legit - they're just a hold service. i was skeptical too but at some point you get desperate enough to try anything

Honestly the waiting week credit thing is usually just a code for "theres some issue with your claim we need to review manually" - could be identity verification, employer dispute, previous overpayment, etc. The system just uses generic error messages. Definitely need to talk to a human to sort it out.
