If you're really stuck, you can also try emailing NYS.1099G@labor.ny.gov with your request. Include your full name, last 4 of SSN, mailing address, and phone number. I had to do this last year and they responded within 3 business days with my form. Way easier than calling!
don't stress too much, they're always late with these forms. I'm waiting too and my accountant said we have until April to file anyway. The IRS doesn't even start processing returns until late January, so even if you file "early" you're not getting your refund any faster.
What about your company sick days? Even part-timers should get some sick time in NY state.
My boss is saying since I've only been there 4 months I haven't accrued enough sick time yet. I need to look into whether that's accurate.
That might be true about accrual, but they still can't say you get ZERO sick time just for being part-time. The law changed.
Have you looked into the NY State COVID sick leave law? It's separate from regular sick leave and unemployment. Your employer might be required to provide paid leave specifically for COVID regardless of your part-time status.
I thought that expired? Does anyone know if it's still active?
Some provisions are still active but they've changed like 5 times so its confusing AF
tbh ur not alone but u might want to check if ur IP is somehow flagged or blocked. sometimes they do that if they think ur account looks suspicious for some reason. try using a different internet connection or reset ur router.
My cousin works in IT security and said gov sites sometimes auto-flag IPs that have too many failed logins or weird patterns. Not saying that's definitely it but worth trying diff connection
I think they're updating the system or something. I called last week and the recording said they'd be doing maintenance but didn't say when. Classic NY unemployment failing to communicate anything useful 🙄
I swear the NY unemployment system is designed to be as frustrating as possible. I've been checking everyday for my 1099 and nothing. Trying to call is pointless unless you have 4 hours to waste on hold.
If you're desperate and need it urgently, try contacting your state representative's office. They have special channels to unemployment and can sometimes help expedite these requests. Worked for me last year when I was in a similar situation.

There's actually a new NYS tax credit for 2023 called the Working Families Tax Credit that might help offset some of the tax burden if you qualify. Worth looking into if you were on unemployment part of the year but also worked.

•Sorry, I was thinking of the Enhanced Earned Income Tax Credit. Here's some info: https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/credits/earned_income_credit.htm

If you had any taxes withheld from your unemployment checks, make sure that shows up correctly on your 1099-G. My friend had withholding but it wasn't reflected on his form and he had to contact ny unemployment to get it fixed.
