UPDATE: Finally got this resolved! I ended up requesting the physical card through the portal as someone mentioned above. Takes about a week but now I can actually use the money. For anyone else dealing with this - don't waste time trying to make the virtual card work for online shopping or transfers, just request the plastic one right away.
i still cant get thru to nyone at the tax dept about my problem... been trying for DAYS!!!!! this is y everyone hates dealing with the govt!!!!
Try calling right when they open at 8:30am. That's usually when it's easiest to get through. If that doesn't work, seriously check out that Claimyr service I mentioned. It was worth it to not waste hours on hold.
Just checked my mail n i got mine 2day!!! says i dont owe tax on $10,200. but im confused do i need 2 do anything with this letter or just keep it for my records?
Just keep the letter for your records. If you already filed your taxes without claiming the exemption, the IRS will automatically adjust your return and send any additional refund you're entitled to. You don't need to take any action unless your lower AGI makes you eligible for additional credits or deductions.
has anyone noticed the system is ALWAYS broken?? like every year they "upgrade" something and it gets worse?? 🙄
For real! Remember last spring when they updated the certification portal and everyone's payments were delayed for like 3 weeks? Good times.
THIS!!! They spend millions on these "improvements" that just make everything worse! And WE suffer while they figure it out!
UPDATE: I finally got through to someone on the phone this morning! For anyone with the same problem - I called right at 8:00am and the wait was only about 20 minutes. The rep confirmed there was an issue with my ID.me verification not transferring correctly to their system. She manually approved it and said my card should be active within 2-3 business days, and I'll receive all my backpay for the weeks I've been certifying. Such a relief! Definitely call if you're having this problem - it won't resolve itself.
Great news! Glad you got it resolved. This is exactly why being proactive with these issues is so important. Make sure to keep certifying each week while you wait for the card activation. The backpay should include all weeks from when you first filed, assuming you've been certifying consistently.
It's looking like Claimyr might be my best option at this point. I've tried so many things already and time is running out. Just want to get this resolved!
Please let us know what ends up working for you! It will help others in similar situations. And don't worry too much about the 7-day deadline - while it's important to try to meet it, I've seen cases where people resolved issues after the deadline without losing benefits. The system has some flexibility built in for these communication challenges.

i had same problem last month. whats worked for me was calling exactly at 8:01 am (not 8:00, not 8:05) and press options 1, then 5, then 2, then 1 again when prompted. got thru to someone in like 15 mins this way. good luck!!

UPDATE: I got through!!! Used the 518-485-8589 number at exactly 7:30am and only waited 22 minutes. The agent was actually super helpful and fixed my pending payments. They said there was a "verification flag" on my account that needed to be removed. Should get all my backpay within 3 business days! Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's great news! Glad you got it resolved. Make sure to save that number for future reference. And if you don't see the payment post within 3 business days, call back using the same number and reference the ticket number from today's call.
