If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

For anyone still dealing with this: I work with a community assistance program, and we're seeing this issue affect quite a few people. The NYSDOL is processing these delayed payments in batches based on certification date. If you certified on the 7th like the original poster, you should see your payment by tomorrow or Friday at the latest. The technical issue was related to the system not properly recognizing certifications that crossed the calendar year boundary. It's something they've actually encountered in previous years as well. One important note: make sure your direct deposit information is current and accurate. Some people have had their payments delayed further because they changed banks recently but didn't update their profile.

My payment just came through! Posted to my account about an hour ago. Thanks everyone for the help and information. Such a relief!

I'm having a similar issue but mine says I've exhausted my benefits?? But I've only been collecting for 8 weeks! Does anyone know if this could be related to the same glitch? I'm freaking out because I have no idea what's going on and I NEED this money for my car payment!!

0 coins

That sounds like a different issue, but could still be related to the system glitches happening right now. I'd recommend creating a new post specifically about the "exhausted benefits" message so people with that exact experience can help you. In the meantime, definitely try to reach an agent to explain your specific situation.

All of this is BY DESIGN! They deliberately make it confusing and slow so people give up and don't get the money they're owed. I bet thousands of people think that little extra on their regular refund WAS the unemployment adjustment and will never follow up. Meanwhile the state keeps MILLIONS that should be going back to workers who were laid off. CRIMINAL!

While the process is certainly frustrating, I want to clarify that these adjustments are actually being processed automatically - you don't have to apply or follow up to receive what you're owed. The separate processing and letter system is actually meant to provide clear documentation of the adjustment for your records. The delays are unfortunate but primarily due to understaffing rather than intentional withholding.

Update: My letter finally arrived yesterday! Says I'll be getting $362 back for the unemployment tax adjustment, and it should arrive within 2-3 weeks. I filed my taxes in mid-March, so it took almost exactly 12 weeks for them to process the adjustment. Hope this helps anyone still waiting - hang in there!

Congrats! That's great news! Fingers crossed mine comes soon too. Did they send it by email or physical mail?

It came as a physical letter in the mail. Nothing showed up in my email or online account at all beforehand.

UPDATE: I got through the ID.me verification! For anyone else stuck with this issue, here's what worked: 1. I used Chrome in incognito mode 2. Failed the facial recognition twice 3. Found the "Need help verifying your identity?" link at the bottom 4. Waited about 1 hour in the video chat queue 5. Verified with an agent who was actually very helpful My NY unemployment claim is now processing again. Thank you to everyone who helped with advice!

That's great news! Glad it finally worked out for you. Did they give any explanation for why the facial recognition was failing?

0 coins

The agent said their facial recognition has been having issues with certain phone cameras and lighting conditions. Apparently it's a known issue they're working on fixing. She said about 30% of people end up needing the video verification route.

I'm having the EXACT same issue but with a twist - I got through ID.me verification but now my NYSDOL account says they can't confirm my identity!? So I'm verified but also not verified? Has anyone else had this happen? I'm so confused and scared I'll never get my benefits...

0 coins

That happened to me too! There's actually a second verification process that happens on NYSDOL's end after ID.me. This is where calling them directly helps - they need to manually confirm the ID.me verification went through. The Claimyr service I mentioned earlier can get you through to them quickly instead of spending days redialing.

Omg thank you for explaining! Nobody tells you these things! I'll check out that service because I'm losing my mind trying to get through on the phone.

my cousin said he got a tax break on unemployment last year but maybe he was talking about something else???

0 coins

Your cousin might have been referring to a different tax benefit, or possibly was still processing an amended return from the 2020 exclusion (some of those took a long time). There definitely wasn't an unemployment exclusion for 2023 taxes (filed in 2024), and there isn't one currently planned for 2024 taxes (filing in 2025) either. He might have qualified for earned income credit or other tax benefits that reduced his overall tax burden.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for clearing this up! I'm definitely going to adjust my expectations for my tax return. I had about 4 months of unemployment last year and had the 10% withholding, but I'll set aside some extra money just in case that wasn't enough. Really appreciate all the information!

That's a smart approach. If you find you're having trouble understanding your specific tax situation with unemployment benefits, don't hesitate to contact NYSDOL directly. Having specific questions prepared helps when you finally reach someone. And remember the Claimyr option I mentioned if you're struggling to get through on the phone lines.

Something kinda related - my friend wasn't vaccinated but got laid off for "budget cuts" even though they only laid off unvaccinated people. She got unemployment no problem because on paper it was a layoff not a firing for cause. Just mentioning in case that helps someone.

UPDATE FOR 2025: The most recent NYSDOL guidance on this issue states that vaccine mandate terminations are evaluated case-by-case. Key factors include: • Whether the mandate was clearly communicated • Whether it was uniformly enforced • Whether exemption requests were properly evaluated • Whether the mandate was reasonably related to job duties Healthcare workers face a higher bar for unemployment eligibility in these cases because patient safety is considered a paramount concern, but it's not impossible. Document everything, apply promptly, and be prepared to appeal if necessary.

This is super helpful - thank you! I submitted my application yesterday and included documentation of my exemption request and denial. Fingers crossed.
