Expired visa - USCIS call dropped, what to do next?
Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my expired visa situation. I tried calling the immigration office but the call dropped or something. Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do next? I'm really worried about my status and need to get this sorted out asap.

Ugh, dealing with immigration can be such a nightmare. I've been there before. Have you tried calling again? Sometimes the lines are just super busy and you gotta keep trying.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/joPqgg0bRFw

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, ya know? 🤷♂️

Have you tried going to the office in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the best way to get things done.

Make sure you have all your paperwork in order before you try to contact them again. They'll ask for a ton of documents, trust me. Here's what you should have ready: - Your expired visa - Passport - Any letters or notices you've received - Proof of your current address - Employment records (if applicable) - Bank statements - Tax returns Having all this stuff organized will make the process go much smoother once you finally get through to someone. Good luck!

Have you considered hiring an immigration lawyer? They can sometimes work miracles with these kinds of situations.

•I've thought about it, but I'm worried about the cost. Do you have any experience with that?

•It can be pricey, but many offer free consultations. Might be worth checking out just to know your options.

•I used a lawyer for my green card application. Expensive but worth every penny imo

Whats ur visa type? Different types have different rules for expiration and renewal.

•It's a student visa. I just graduated and it expired shortly after.

•Ah gotcha. Look into the OPT (Optional Practical Training) program. You might be eligible for a work permit that buys you some more time.

Hey Ana! I went through something similar last year with my H1-B renewal. One thing that really helped me was sending a case inquiry through the USCIS website (uscis.gov) if you have a receipt number from any previous applications. You can also try reaching out to your local congressman's office - they have liaisons specifically for immigration issues and can sometimes help get through the bureaucracy faster. Also, if you're still within your grace period, document everything (dates you called, reference numbers, etc.) in case you need it later. Don't panic - there are usually more options than it initially seems! 💪
