Will IRS reject refund without Form 1095-A if I never had marketplace insurance?

Been seeing alot of people getting rejected for marketplace insurance form 1095-A. I've never had marketplace insurance or received this form. Anyone know if the IRS will still reject my refund? Starting to get worried seeing all these rejections.

Tax pro here - if you didn't have marketplace insurance, you don't need Form 1095-A. Those rejections are specifically for people who received advanced premium tax credits through healthcare.gov or state marketplaces. You're good to go! 👍

I work at a tax office and can confirm - if you didnt have marketplace insurance you dont need to worry about form 1095-A. The rejections your seeing are for people who actually had the insurance but didnt include the required form.

Just to add some reassurance - I've been doing taxes for 15 years and the Form 1095-A requirement only applies if you actually received advance premium tax credits through a marketplace plan. If you never enrolled in marketplace insurance, there's literally no way for you to have received these credits, so the IRS has no reason to expect that form from you. The rejections you're seeing are from people who DID have marketplace coverage but forgot to include their 1095-A. You're completely in the clear! 🙂

This is super helpful! As someone new to filing taxes, I was getting really anxious reading all the rejection stories online. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly - makes total sense that if you never had marketplace insurance, you wouldn't have gotten those credits in the first place. Really appreciate the detailed explanation! 😊
