1095-A rejection for Medicaid recipient - marketplace confusion from 2018

Filed my taxes and got rejected due to 1095-A issues. Makes no sense since my whole family has been on Medicaid. Found an old marketplace application from 2018 that's still processing but there's no tax forms showing up on the site. Anyone else deal with this? Starting to stress about getting this fixed.

Tax pro here. This is actually pretty common. If you've only had Medicaid (not marketplace insurance), you don't need a 1095-A. You need Form 1095-B, which Medicaid provides. That old marketplace application shouldn't matter if you never actually got coverage through them.

omg thank you! So I can just ignore that old application? Should I try to cancel it or something?

Yep, you can ignore it. Just make sure you check the full-year coverage box on your return since you had Medicaid all year.

Hey guys just wanted to share something thats been super helpful - I was dealing with the same headache until I found taxr.ai. It analyzed my transcript and explained exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. Cost me $5 but saved me hours of research and stress. https://taxr.ai

Check your state Medicaid portal. They usually have the 1095-B forms there to download
