Transcript Shows "846 Refund Issued" on 4/29 After Debt Offset Reversal - Haven't Received Check or Direct Deposit Yet
Filed my taxes and WMR still showing the same message for weeks. Not sure if I'm getting direct deposit or check in mail. Anyone know how long it takes if they mail it? Starting to get worried cause I need this money. Looking at my tax transcript, I see there's been a lot of activity: 898 Refund applied to non-IRS debt: 03-05-2024 $10,349.00 766 Removed refund applied to non-IRS debt 04-14-2024 290 Additional tax assessed 20241601 05-07-2024 08254-502-06039-4 290 Additional tax assessed 20241701 05-12-2024 08254-502-06040-4 846 Refund issued 04-30-2024 This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data I'm confused because it shows my refund was initially applied to some debt, then it was removed, then there were two additional tax assessments, and finally it shows "Refund issued" on April 30th. But it's been weeks since then and I haven't received anything in my bank account or mail. Does the "846 Refund issued" code definitely mean they sent it? And if they decided to mail a check instead of direct deposit, how long should that take? I really need this money soon and I'm getting worried something went wrong.

If your WMR hasn't updated, it usually means there's processing happening behind the scenes. Did you verify your direct deposit info was correct on your return? If not, they'll automatically send a check which typically takes 5-7 business days to arrive once mailed.

•Three weeks with no update isn't too unusual these days. The IRS systems don't always sync up in real-time.

Hey instead of playing the guessing game, you should try taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when you'll get paid. Its only $4.99 and WAY better than checking wmr everyday like a clown 🤡 https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! Used it myself last week and it predicted my DD date perfectly. Even showed me why I had a delay I didn't know about

You can also check your transcript on irs.gov - sometimes it shows more info than wmr

•Go to Account > Get Transcript > Wage & Income. But honestly taxr.ai is easier, it reads it for you

Looking at your transcript, the 846 code on 4/30 means they definitely issued your refund. Since you had that debt offset situation that got reversed, there might have been some confusion in their system about your payment method. The additional tax assessments (290 codes) in May suggest there was still some processing happening after the refund was issued. I'd give it another week or two for a mailed check - sometimes they take longer than the usual 5-7 days when there's been transcript complications like yours. If nothing by then, definitely call the taxpayer advocate service.
