W-2 verification submitted but no update - Tax Advocate MIA and mysterious IRS letter coming
Finally got through to the IRS after my tax advocate ghosted me. They confirmed receiving my W-2s but said they mailed a letter on the 16th that I haven't gotten yet. No clue what it's about and can't get any answers. Been trying to reach advocate through Congress but radio silence. Anyone else get mystery letters after submitting W-2s?

Tax advocate here - the letter is probably a cp12 or cp75. Most likely they're verifying your income or making adjustments to your refund amount. Keep checking your transcript online, it'll show up there before you get the physical letter.

•Usually 4-6 weeks but with current backlog could be 8-10 weeks tbh

Honestly the best way to know exactly whats going on is to use taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what stage youre in and estimated timeframe. Its $4.99 but saved me weeks of stress. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•How accurate is it? Like does it actually predict dates or just general timeframes?

Pro tip: take pictures of EVERYTHING you send them. I learned that the hard way when they 'lost' my docs twice 🤡

Contacting Congress is actually smart. That's what finally got mine moving after 8 months of nothing happening.
