UI Overpayment: When will benefits resume after 2-week deduction?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. I owe two weeks of overpayment and I'm wondering if anyone knows how this works. Will they automatically deduct it from my future benefits? And more importantly, when can I expect to actually see some money? I'm getting pretty desperate here and could really use some insight from folks who've been through this before.

Ugh, overpayments are the worst! 😫 I went through something similar last year. In my experience, they usually deduct it from your future payments. It took about 3-4 weeks before I saw any money after they sorted out the overpayment. Hang in there!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Did you have to do anything special to get it sorted out, or did they just handle it automatically?

For me, it was mostly automatic. But I did call them once just to make sure everything was on track. Might be worth giving them a ring if you're worried!

3-4 weeks?! 😱 That's rough. I guess we're all in the same boat tho. The system is so slow

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration!

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

Here's what I know about overpayments based on my experience and research: • Typically, they will deduct the overpayment amount from future benefits. • The timeline can vary, but usually it takes 2-4 weeks to process. • You should receive a notice detailing the overpayment and how it will be recouped. • If the overpayment was their error, you might be able to request a waiver. • Keep certifying for benefits even while this is being sorted out. • If you're in dire need, explain your situation and ask about hardship provisions. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! This is super helpful. I'll definitely keep certifying and maybe look into that waiver option.

I'm dealing with the same issue rn. It's so frustrating! 😤 The lack of clear communication from the unemployment office is ridiculous. Feels like we're just left hanging.

Preach! šŸ™Œ The whole system needs an overhaul. It's like they're stuck in the 1980s or something.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, save any letters or emails you receive, and note down the names of anyone you speak to. It might come in handy if there's any dispute later on.

That's great advice, thanks! I'll start doing that right away.
