TurboTax 'Accepted' Status But No Refund Deposit Yet - Normal Wait Time?
I've been checking the IRS2Go app and WMR tool daily, but still no deposit after TurboTax showed 'accepted'. I've used TurboTax for years, but this time feels different - I actually got as far as seeing my estimated refund amount instead of getting denied outright like previous years. Has anyone else experienced this? According to the IRS website processing times are 21 days, but I'm getting anxious since I was counting on this for some gig work expenses. Should I be worried or is the system just backed up?

OMG I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now!!! Filed on February 22nd and got accepted THE SAME DAY but still nothing in my account! The IRS is taking FOREVER this year! 😩 I keep checking my bank account every morning hoping to see that deposit, but nothing! The IRS website says 21 days is normal, but I'm on day 26 now and getting seriously worried. You need to check your transcript ASAP to see if there are any holds or if they're just slow-walking your refund!

I was in the same boat last week. The IRS Where's My Refund tool showed nothing useful, but when I checked my transcript on irs.gov, I could see they had actually processed my return but were holding it for review. According to the IRS FAQ page, they're dealing with higher verification volumes this year.

Has anyone checked if they're subject to the PATH Act delay? According to Internal Revenue Code Section 6402(m), certain credits trigger automatic extended review periods. Did you claim EITC or ACTC on your return? Those require the IRS to hold refunds until at least February 15th, though processing continues well beyond that date for many filers!

This is way worse than last year! In 2023 I waited maybe 14 days total, but now I'm at 32 days and counting. My friend who filed a week after me already got her refund. It's like they're picking returns out of a hat or something. I'm starting to wonder if being a gig worker somehow flags your return for extra scrutiny compared to W-2 only filers?

Ah, the annual "where's my refund" anxiety festival has begun! 🎭 I went through this exact rollercoaster last filing season. What really saved my sanity was using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It decoded all those cryptic codes and actually explained what was happening behind the scenes. Turns out my return was just sitting in a processing queue - nothing wrong with it! The tool showed me exactly where I was in the process and gave me a pretty accurate estimate of when I'd get paid. Beats refreshing WMR every 20 minutes like I was doing before, haha.

Another service? IRS provides all this info free. Just need to read the codes. Check cycle dates. Monitor patterns. Simple enough.

Tbh I tried the DIY transcript reading route last yr and it was a nightmare. Spent hrs on reddit trying to decode what "570" meant for MY situation vs someone else's. Taxr saved me so much time bc it explained everything specific to my filing status/credits/etc. Not just generic definitions u can google.

Let's be clear about what these services actually do. They're not giving you any information the IRS doesn't already provide. What they offer is interpretation and prediction based on patterns. Is that worth paying for? Depends on your comfort level with tax terminology and how much your time is worth. For some people, the peace of mind is valuable.

I've been tracking refund patterns for exactly 7 tax seasons now, and there's definitely a slowdown this year. The average processing time has increased from 18.3 days in 2023 to 24.7 days in 2024 based on the data I've collected from 42 different filers. Specifically for TurboTax users who e-filed in February, the current wait time is averaging 26.5 days from acceptance to deposit. Have you checked your tax transcript for cycle codes? That's the most reliable indicator of where you stand in the process. Also, did you claim any credits that might trigger additional verification?

I've been watching my bank account like a hawk this year because I really need this money. Filed January 29th, didn't get my refund until March 7th - that's 38 days! Last year it was only 16 days for basically the same return. The IRS is definitely slower this season.

I think I might be one of the lucky ones? I filed on March 2nd and got my deposit on March 17th, so about 15 days. It was probably because my return was very simple - just a W-2 and standard deduction, no credits or anything complicated. I was honestly relieved because I've heard so many horror stories about long waits this year.

Have you considered that your return might be in the verification queue? Many returns are selected for additional review, especially if there are income discrepancies or credit claims that need verification. Did you know that only 40% of calls to the IRS even get through during peak season? Most people give up after hours on hold. If you need answers now, I've seen many people in this sub having success with Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an actual IRS agent. They'll be able to tell you exactly what's happening with your return and give you a realistic timeframe.

Think of your tax return like a package moving through a massive sorting facility. Sometimes packages get routed to the express lane and zip through, while others need additional inspection stations. The IRS process is similar - returns with certain elements get flagged for different processing paths. I completely understand your anxiety - it's like tracking a delivery that shows 'out for delivery' for days! Based on the current processing patterns, TurboTax accepted returns are taking 21-28 days on average. The good news is that seeing your estimated refund amount is actually a positive sign - it means your return passed the initial validation checks. I'd recommend checking your tax transcript if you can access it - that will show where your return is in the process with specific codes that indicate next steps.

Last year I was in the exact same situation - filed through TurboTax, got accepted right away, then nothing for weeks. I remember checking WMR obsessively every morning before work. When I finally called the IRS after waiting 31 days, they told me my return was just in normal processing and there was nothing to worry about. Got my deposit 3 days later! The timeframes seem to be even longer this year based on what I'm seeing in various tax groups. As long as WMR doesn't show an error message, you're probably fine - just stuck in the processing queue.

Have you checked your tax transcript yet? That often updates before WMR and gives more detailed information about where your return is in the process. You can access it through irs.gov if you create an account. What date did you file exactly? And did you claim any tax credits that might trigger additional review under the PATH Act?

Here's what's happening and what you should do: 1. First, check your tax transcript at irs.gov/transcripts - this shows actual processing status with codes 2. If you see code 570, that's a temporary hold which usually resolves on its own 3. If you see code 971, that means a notice is being mailed to you 4. For TurboTax filers specifically, there's a known delay pattern this year where returns show as accepted but sit in queue for 21-35 days 5. If you're past 21 days with no transcript codes indicating issues, call the IRS at 800-829-1040 6. Before calling, have your filing status, SSN, expected refund amount, and a copy of your return ready Most importantly, seeing your estimated refund amount is actually a good sign - it means your return passed basic validation. About 80% of these cases resolve with full refund issuance, just with a longer timeline than expected.
