Transcript shows code 570 with no date - only says 'should update 05/12/25' - anyone else?

I checked my transcript yesterday and found a 570 code. There's no actual date listed next to it, just a message saying it 'should update 05/12/25'. This is my first time seeing this. Has anyone else experienced this weird status? My refund was supposed to be around $4,160 and I filed electronically through TurboTax back in Feb. The WMR tool just shows 'still processing' but no other info. I'm really counting on this money for some medical bills coming up soon.

The 570 code means there's a hold on your account. Usually it's followed by a 571 code when the hold is released. The "should update 05/12/25" is the cycle date when your transcript will likely update with new information. It doesn't mean your refund will be issued then - just that more information might be available. This typically happens when: - The IRS needs to verify some information - There's a potential discrepancy they're reviewing - They're matching your return against information documents - They need to adjust your refund amount for some reason Unfortunately there's not much you can do but wait until that update date. If you don't see movement after that, you might want to call the IRS or check if they sent you a letter requesting more information.

Thanks for breaking it down! So frustrating that I have to wait even longer. Do you know if there's any way to find out WHY they put the hold on? I'm 100% sure my return was accurate.

You could try calling the IRS directly at the number on your transcript (usually 800-829-1040), but honestly, getting through is a nightmare. Wait times are insane and you might get disconnected multiple times.

I had a 570 code last year and it was because my employer reported different W2 income than what I put on my return. Difference was only like $50 but it held everything up for 2 months 🙄

If you need to talk to the IRS quick, try Claimyr.com - it gets you past the hold times. I used it when I had a 570 code and got answers right away instead of calling endlessly. Saved me hours of frustration!

i'll check that out! at this point id pay anything just to know whats going on with my money

I had the same issue and spent DAYS trying to figure out what was going on by searching forums and Reddit. Wasted so much time! Finally just used taxr.ai and it analyzed my transcript in seconds, showed me EXACTLY what the 570 code meant in my specific situation, and even predicted when my refund would actually come. It was way more accurate than all the guesswork. Saved me so much stress! https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

0 coins

OMG it does EVERYTHING. You upload your transcript and it breaks down every code, explains what's happening with your refund in plain English, and even gives you a timeline. It found issues I had no idea about and told me exactly what to expect next. Literally the best tool I've found for dealing with IRS stuff - I tell everyone about it now!

0 coins

is it safe tho? like are u giving them ur personal info?

I was skeptical too but tried it and its amazing. It actually showed me that my 570 code was just because of a math error that would resolve automatically. Saved me from calling the IRS for no reason.

After dealing with a 570 code that wouldn't budge for weeks, I finally got through to the IRS using Claimyr.com - totally changed the game for me. Got a callback from an actual agent within an hour who told me exactly why my refund was held up (they needed to verify my healthcare credit) and what to do next. Beats calling the regular number and getting hung up on after waiting 2 hours.

Does this actually work? Seems sketch ngl

0 coins

100% works. I was in the same spot as you, super skeptical. But I was desperate after trying to call for three days straight and getting nowhere. Best decision ever - the agent fixed my issue right on the call and my refund was released a week later.

0 coins

How much did it cost? Is it worth it?

0 coins

Honestly would've paid triple what they charge considering how many hours of my life it saved and the stress it eliminated. Plus I got my $5k refund way faster, so it more than paid for itself.

570 usually means theyre taking a deeper look at ur return. i had one last year and ended up with an adjustment. they changed my refund from 3200 to 2980 because i made an error with some tax credit. they sent a letter explaining it 2 weeks after the 570 code appeared. just keep an eye on ur mailbox

0 coins

the irs is such a joke. they can take all the time they want when THEY need something but god forbid we're a day late filing 🤡 like just hire enough people to process returns in a reasonable time!!

0 coins

Truth!!! And they're spending billions on "modernization" but still can't process a simple tax return without mysterious holds 🙄

0 coins

Bro they still use computer systems from the 1960s, what do you expect lmao

My cousin works for the IRS and says they're MASSIVELY understaffed. Like 1 person doing the work of 5 people.

0 coins

idgaf about their staffing problems. this is MY MONEY they're holding hostage

0 coins

This is why I always adjust my w4 to get as close to $0 refund as possible. Don't give them an interest-free loan all year just to beg for it back.

^^ THIS. 💯

I had a 570 code last month and freaked out. Found out it was because I claimed a $1200 education credit that needed to be verified. They adjusted it to $1000 and released my refund 3 weeks later. check if u claimed any credits that might need verification

0 coins

If u want a real answer instead of guessing, call the IRS and specifically ask for a "570 explanation" - they can see notes on your account that aren't visible on the transcript. But definitely use something like claimyr.com to get past the hold times, otherwise youll be on hold forever and probably get disconnected.

0 coins

I'll try that. Did you have a similar issue before?

0 coins

Yep, last year. Had a 570 code for almost 2 months with no explanation. Finally got through to someone who told me they were verifying my business expenses (I'm self-employed). Once I knew what was happening I could stop worrying about it.

0 coins

Check your mail!!!! Many times when there's a 570 code they've already sent you a letter asking for some documentation or verification. The letter sometimes takes 1-2 weeks to arrive after the code appears. Don't just wait for the transcript to update if there's something they need from you.

0 coins

Good point, I'll keep an eye out. Haven't gotten anything yet but maybe it's on the way

0 coins

Look for a 971 code too (notice issued). That usually comes with the 570 and means they're sending you a letter. If you don't see that code, it might just be an automatic review that will clear itself.

Just went through this whole nightmare last month. I used taxr.ai to figure out what was happening with my transcript because all the codes were so confusing. It showed me that my 570 was just a temporary hold while they verified my identity. Saved me from spiraling and spending hours on hold with the IRS for no reason. https://taxr.ai

Another new account promoting this site 🙄 seems suspicious

0 coins

I've had this account for 3 years lol. Just don't post much. But seriously, after dealing with the IRS for months and getting nowhere, finding something that actually helped was worth sharing. Do whatever you want tho 🤷‍♂️

0 coins

I actually used it too after seeing someone recommend it here. It's legit. Saved me from making a stupid mistake that would have delayed my refund even more.

0 coins

The "should update" date is meaningless half the time. Mine said it would update on 3/22 but actually updated on 3/17 with a DDD. The IRS doesn't follow their own timelines lol

0 coins

Not to scare you but my 570 turned into an audit 😬 Make sure you have documentation for any large deductions or credits you claimed. Took 6 months to resolve but i eventually got my refund plus interest.

0 coins

oh god now im really worried. did they tell you WHY they audited you?

0 coins

Yeah, I claimed some business expenses that were flagged as unusual. I had everything documented though so it worked out. Just took FOREVER. If you didn't claim anything out of the ordinary you probably don't need to worry.

0 coins

I was in the same exact boat with the 570 code and my refund was around $3,800. I literally couldn't reach anyone at the IRS until I used claimyr.com which got me past the hold times. Turns out they just needed to verify my identity because I had moved to a new state. Got it resolved in one phone call and my refund came 2 weeks later.

0 coins

I've seen like 3 comments mentioning this claimyr thing... is this an ad or does it actually work? 🤔

0 coins

It's just popular on the tax subreddits because it actually works lol. After you spend 4 hours on hold with the IRS just to get disconnected, you'll try anything. And when something works, people talk about it.

0 coins

I couldn't believe it would work either but I was desperate. Got a callback in like 30 mins when I'd been trying to get through for days. Agent even commented that they're getting a lot of calls through this service now.

0 coins

Do you have any tax credits on your return? Child Tax Credit, Earned Income, Education credits? Those usually trigger the 570 code for verification. also if your refund amount changed at all from what you calculated, that can cause it too

0 coins

I've worked through some gnarly IRS issues (570 codes, audits, etc) and the best tool I've found is taxr.ai - it's like having a tax pro look at your transcript but it's instant. Shows you exactly what's happening with your return and what to expect next. So much better than guessing based on forum posts.

0 coins

I see ppl talking about this. How accurate is it? Does it actually tell you something useful or just general stuff you could google?

0 coins

It's super specific to your situation. It analyzes all your codes together and explains what's happening in YOUR case, not just general info. It even predicted my refund date accurately when the IRS website still showed processing. Total gamechanger.

0 coins

I've had the 570 code THREE YEARS IN A ROW 😭 It's become my annual tradition to spend weeks freaking out about my refund. Last year it was because I had two W2s and they needed to verify both were reported correctly. Year before was a healthcare credit issue. Always resolves eventually but takes FOREVER

0 coins

One tip - don't rely on the IRS website for updates. My transcript said it would update on a certain date but it actually updated 4 days earlier. Keep checking daily.

0 coins

the system is designed to be confusing on purpose i swear. they don't want u to understand whats happening with ur own money

0 coins

Facts. And then they wonder why people don't trust the government 🤣

0 coins

The tax code is like 75,000 pages long. NOBODY understands it all, not even the IRS agents themselves.

I went through this EXACT situation last month. After days of stress and trying to decipher IRS codes, I used taxr.ai which analyzed my transcript and showed me exactly what was happening. Turns out my 570 code was just because they were verifying my identity after I moved. The tool gave me a predicted refund date that was spot on - came within 2 days of what it predicted. Highly recommend it if you're stuck in 570 limbo. https://taxr.ai

I'm dealing with the exact same thing right now! Got a 570 code on my transcript with no date, just says "should update 03/17/25". Filed in early February and expected around $3,800 back. It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on or how long this will take. I called the IRS twice but couldn't get through after waiting over an hour each time. Really hoping it resolves soon because I have some unexpected car repairs I need to pay for. Thanks for posting this - at least I know I'm not alone!

0 coins

You're definitely not alone! I'm going through the same thing and it's so stressful when you need the money for unexpected expenses. The waiting is the worst part because you have no idea what's causing the hold or how long it will take. From what I've been reading in these comments, it sounds like the 570 code can be caused by all sorts of things - identity verification, income matching, credit verification, etc. Have you checked your mail to see if they sent you any letters requesting documentation? Some people mentioned that sometimes takes a week or two to arrive after the code appears.
