Transcript Shows 'Complete' But No Direct Deposit Date - What's Happening?

I checked my tax transcript this morning and it shows my return is complete, but there's still no direct deposit date showing up. WMR just has the first bar. I filed about 3 weeks ago and was expecting my refund by now. Anyone know what's going on or how long I should expect to wait? Starting to get worried something's wrong with my return.

There's a gap between when your return is marked 'complete' in the system and when they actually schedule your deposit. This is totally normal. The transcript will update with an 846 code when your refund is scheduled. Usually takes 5-7 business days after completion, but can be longer during busy periods like now in April.

Did you check both your account transcript and return transcript? Sometimes the account transcript will show the refund info when the return transcript doesn't yet. Also, what cycle code do you have on your transcript?

I only checked the return transcript. Didn't know I should check the account one too. Not sure about cycle code - where would I find that?

On your account transcript, look for a line that has a number ending in 01, 02, 05, etc. (like 20231405). That tells you which processing cycle you're in, which can help predict when your refund will be issued.

I was in the exact same situation last week. My transcript showed complete but no DDD. I was totally confused until I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It explained that my return was in the final verification stage before refund scheduling. The site showed me exactly what each code meant and predicted my DDD would appear within 5 days - and it was right! Saved me so much stress trying to decode all those numbers and codes.

Do you have any credits on your return? Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Credit, etc? Those can add extra processing time even after the return is marked complete.

Yeah, I claimed the Child Tax Credit this year. That must be why it's taking longer. Thanks for the info!

If you're really worried, you can always call the IRS directly. I was in the same boat last month - transcript said complete but no deposit date. Spent two days trying to get through on their normal number without success. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my refund was scheduled but just hadn't updated in the system yet. Got my deposit three days later. Worth the fee to save hours of frustration on hold.

Does Claimyr actually work? I've tried calling the IRS like 20 times this week and can never get through.

Just be patient. The IRS is swamped right now with tax season in full swing. As long as your transcript shows complete, your refund is coming. I've had it take up to 2 weeks after 'complete' status before getting my deposit date during busy periods.
