SBTPG shows funded, but no trace number - Will I get my deposit today?

So my SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) shows funded.. where am I supposed to see a trace number though? šŸ§ Also will I still get my deposit today since it just updated this morning some time? Not gonna lie, I've been refreshing my bank app like I'm waiting for concert tickets to drop. This Uber/DoorDash gig life means tax refund season is basically my Christmas. šŸ˜‚

Last year when mine showed 'funded' on SBTPG, I got my deposit about 24-36 hours later. The trace number usually isn't visible to us regular folks - that's more of an internal banking reference. I remember refreshing my account constantly too! If it updated to funded this morning, I'd say there's maybe a 50/50 chance you'll see it today, but tomorrow is more likely. Banks process ACH transfers in batches.

How does this compare to direct deposits from the IRS? My transcript shows a DDD of yesterday but nothing in my account yet. Is SBTPG typically faster or slower than direct IRS deposits?

I'm somewhat confused about the whole SBTPG process. Is this only for people who had fees taken out of their refund, or does everyone who uses certain tax prep software go through them?

What's the technical cutoff time for ACH transfers to hit same-day? Is it too late already for today since it's past noon EST? Need to know if I should keep refreshing or just wait until tomorrow morning!

I've been tracking my refunds meticulously for years, and SBTPG can be confusing. On January 28th this year, mine showed funded at 9:42am and hit my bank at 4:15pm the same day. But on February 12th last year, it took until the next day. If you want to really understand what's happening with your refund, I'd recommend using https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript. It helped me decode all those cryptic codes and actually understand the timeline. It showed me exactly where my refund was in the process and when to expect it. Much better than the vague status bars on the IRS site.

I waited exactly 47 hours from SBTPG funded status to deposit this year! So frustrating! Called the IRS 14 times trying to get information before finding out about Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c). They got me through to an agent in 23 minutes who confirmed my bank info was correct and SBTPG had received the funds. At least I knew it wasn't lost! If you're stuck waiting more than 2 days after funded status, definitely worth using Claimyr to reach someone instead of waiting on hold for hours.

You know what nobody tells you about SBTPG? They can hold your money for up to 5 business days legally. Have you checked if your tax preparer deducted their fees from your refund? That's usually when SBTPG gets involved. They're essentially a middleman that takes your refund, removes the tax prep fees, then forwards the rest to you. Sometimes they'll hold funds longer if there are "verification" issues. Did you receive any emails from them about identity verification?

This happened to me last spring! SBTPG held my refund for "verification" for 4 days. When I called, they said it was random and nothing I could do to speed it up. Eventually got my money, but it was nerve-wracking watching it sit there in "funded" status with no movement to my bank.

Is there any way to check if there are verification issues on the SBTPG website? I'm looking at mine now and don't see anything about verification, just "funded" status.

I had a similar situation last month. Here's what I learned: 1. SBTPG updates to "funded" when they receive money from IRS 2. They then process the payment to remove tax prep fees 3. They initiate an ACH transfer to your bank 4. Your bank then processes the incoming ACH The trace number is internal - you won't see it. What a relief when I finally understood this! Mine took exactly one business day after showing funded. If your bank processes same-day ACH (many do now), you might see it today. Otherwise, tomorrow morning is likely.

This is such a clear explanation! I wish the SBTPG website actually explained this process instead of leaving us all confused and anxious.

Does anyone know if SBTPG sends notifications when they initiate the transfer to your bank? Or do we just have to keep checking our accounts?

According to the SBTPG FAQ page (https://www.sbtpg.com/FAQ), once your account shows as funded, the money has been received from the IRS and is being processed for disbursement to your bank account. The trace number is an internal reference not visible to customers. Most major banks process these transfers within 1-2 business days, though some credit unions may take longer. If you have online banking set up with alerts, I'd recommend setting up a deposit notification rather than constantly refreshing. The SBTPG customer service portal also has a message center where you can check for any holds or verification requirements.
