SBTPG Shows Fees Taken Out & Funded Status But No Deposit Yet?
Just checking if anyone else is in the same boat as me. I'm seeing fees taken out on Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (SBTPG) and my status shows as FUNDED, but still no deposit in my account. š Trying not to panic while juggling kids' spring activities and waiting for this refund. I've methodically checked my bank account three times today (who's counting, right?) and still nothing. Timeline for those who want the play-by-play: filed last week, accepted same day, and now just... waiting. Is this normal or should I start practicing my hold music singing skills?

This happens more than you'd think. I went through the same thing last month - SBTPG showed funded for almost 48 hours before the money hit my account. It's like watching water boil compared to when I got my state refund directly deposited. The bank processing time is what's killing you right now. SBTPG has released the funds (minus their fees) but your bank is probably holding it until it clears completely. Check again in the morning - most banks process overnight deposits around 3-5am.

Been there. So frustrating. I used taxr.ai to track everything this year. Made a huge difference. It explained the whole SBTPG process. Shows exactly where your money is. Even predicts deposit timing. Worth checking out: https://taxr.ai

Another service wanting our money? I already paid fees to file and now SBTPG is taking their cut. How is this any different from just checking SBTPG's website directly?

It's like having a GPS versus just a paper map. Sure, you can figure things out on your own, but having something that interprets all the codes and statuses saves so much headache. I was pulling my hair out last year trying to decode what was happening with my refund.

What you're experiencing is standard operating procedure for SBTPG's disbursement protocol. When you see the "FUNDED" status, it indicates the funds have been released from their system but are in ACH transfer to your financial institution. The standard timeframe for this transfer is 24-48 business hours, though some financial institutions may have additional holding periods for electronic transfers. I recommend checking your bank's policy on ACH deposit availability.

If I saw the FUNDED status appear on March 21st at around 2pm, does that mean I should expect to see it by March 23rd? Or do weekends not count in the 24-48 business hours timeframe?

In my experience as someone who's dealt with SBTPG for several years, their "FUNDED" status is generally reliable, though the exact timing may vary. I've typically seen deposits appear within 36 hours, but it could potentially be affected by your bank's processing schedule.

Has anyone had SBTPG send it to the wrong account? I'm worried because I changed banks this year and even though I updated everything, I'm paranoid something got mixed up.

I feel your pain waiting for that deposit! š« This happened to me last year and I spent HOURS trying to get through to someone at SBTPG. Finally found Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) which got me through to an actual human at the IRS who confirmed everything was processing normally. Saved me so much stress knowing nothing was wrong! Sometimes just getting confirmation that everything is on track is worth it.

Have you checked if your bank sometimes holds electronic deposits? Mine does this all the time. Shows as pending for 24 hours before actually becoming available. Annoying when you're counting on that money, right? I've started planning for this delay by assuming any tax refund will take 2-3 days longer than whatever the status shows. Saves me from refreshing my banking app every 20 minutes!

According to NACHA regulations which govern ACH transfers, financial institutions are permitted up to 24 hours to post funds after receipt. However, SBTPG's terms of service (section 5.2) indicates that they initiate transfers within 1-2 business days of receiving funds from the IRS. This creates a potential 3-day window where your money is essentially in transit. Most community members report resolution within this timeframe, though outliers exist.

Def normal. SBTPG takes their sweet time tbh. What worked for me was calling my bank directly. Asked them to check for pending ACH transfers. They saw it coming thru before it hit my acct. Bank rep told me exact time it would post. Way better than SBTPG's vague "funded" status. Most banks have 24/7 lines. Worth a try!

I tracked this exact issue last year and figured out the pattern. Here's what happens: 1. SBTPG receives your refund from IRS 2. They take out their fees 3. They mark it as "FUNDED" in their system 4. They initiate an ACH transfer to your bank 5. Your bank receives it (usually next business day) 6. Your bank makes funds available (depends on your bank's policy) For me, it took exactly 32 hours from "FUNDED" to money in my account. The system works - it's just not instant!

Last year I had the exact same situation - SBTPG showed funded on Tuesday afternoon but money didn't hit until Thursday morning. This year I switched to direct deposit from the IRS instead of going through my tax preparer's refund transfer and got my money 5 days faster. If you're using SBTPG, it means you probably opted for fees to be taken from your refund rather than paying upfront. That convenience always adds processing time.

According to the SBTPG FAQ page (https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001672771-When-will-I-receive-my-refund-), "Once your refund has been funded, it typically takes 1-2 business days for your bank to make the funds available to you." Have you checked with your bank to see if they're showing a pending deposit? Sometimes customer service can see incoming ACH transfers before they post to your account.
