TurboTax + SBTPG with DDD for the 24th - Anyone Get Their Money Yet Without Paying for Early Deposit?
So frustrated right now! 😤 Did anyone use TurboTax with fees taken out through SBTPG who has a deposit date for the 24th and DIDN'T pay extra for that early deposit nonsense? Have you gotten your money from SBTPG already? I've got bills due and three kids needing stuff for spring break next week. Just need to know if I should keep checking my account or stop driving myself crazy!

Hey there! I'm in the same boat w/ TT & SBTPG. My DDD is also the 24th. SBTPG updated my account status to "funded" last night around 10pm EST. Didn't pay for that early deposit feature either (total ripoff IMO). $ hit my acct this AM around 6:30. Most banks release once they get the $ from SBTPG, but some hold until actual DDD. Def check the SBTPG portal for status updates vs just your bank acct!

Wait, there's a SBTPG portal you can check? 🤔 I've just been refreshing my bank account like a madman. Would love to know if they've at least received my refund from the IRS!

Yes, there is. Go to taxpayer.sbtpg.com and set up an account with the same info you used on your return. I got my deposit this morning too. The system works but there's no rhyme or reason to the timing - just depends on your bank's processing speed once SBTPG releases it.

What bank do you use for your direct deposit? That's a critical factor in the timing. Some financial institutions like Credit Unions and online banks process ACH transfers much faster than traditional banks. Also, did your SBTPG account status show "funded" yet? That's the key status transition you want to see before expecting the deposit.

I was in EXACTLY your situation last year with a DDD and SBTPG processing delay. After refreshing my account for 3 days straight and getting nowhere with their automated system, I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to reach an actual SBTPG representative. The agent confirmed my payment was in their processing queue and explained the exact timeline I could expect. My deposit arrived the next morning! Their system is notoriously backlogged during peak tax season and sometimes manual intervention is necessary to expedite your case.

Wait, Claimyr works for reaching SBTPG too? I thought it was just for IRS agents. How does that even work with a third-party company like SBTPG?

I've used it before. It works for SBTPG because they have a regular customer service line, but with ridiculous wait times this time of year. Claimyr just handles the waiting for you and calls when an agent is available. Saved me hours last year when my refund got stuck in their system for a week after my DDD.

Did you have to pay a lot for the service? I'm already stressed about money which is why I'm waiting for this refund in the first place. 😫 Not sure I want to spend more just to find out when I'll get paid...

According to the SBTPG FAQ page (https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001672771-When-will-I-receive-my-refund-), they typically process within 1-2 business days after receiving funds from the IRS. I've been tracking the r/IRS and r/TurboTax subreddits, and it looks like people with DDDs for the 24th started seeing SBTPG status updates yesterday afternoon. Most banks don't process overnight deposits until early morning, so I'd expect to see movement in accounts by tomorrow at the latest. The IRS Refund Status page won't help once it's with SBTPG - you need to check their portal directly.

Is it like watching a package delivery where you can see it move from one place to another? I'm trying to understand if there's a way to know exactly where in the process my money is sitting right now.

Has anyone noticed if using TurboTax with SBTPG is slower than filing directly with the IRS and getting your refund sent straight to your bank? This is my third year using TT but first time having the fees taken out of my refund. Wondering if that's why it seems to be taking longer compared to previous years?

Success! Just checked my account and my refund landed exactly 28 hours after my SBTPG status changed to funded. I have a DDD of 3/24, didn't pay for early deposit, and used a regional credit union. The refund amount was exactly $4,378.23 after TT took their $89.99 fee. Worth checking your SBTPG account - mine updated before my bank showed any pending deposits.
