Refund Shows as 'Funded' Since Friday But Money Still Not Received - TurboTax Issues
I'm trying to understand the delay with my tax refund and could use some guidance: • My status shows 'funded' since Friday (3 days ago) • Money has not appeared in my account yet • TurboTax platform seems to have processing issues this year • Not sure if this is normal for international filers like me • Wondering if I should contact someone or just wait longer? This is my first time filing with TurboTax and I'm not planning to use them again after this experience.

This happens a lot with tax prep software. 'Funded' usually means the IRS has released the funds, but your bank might be holding it for 1-3 business days. If you filed with a refund transfer product (where they take their fee out of your refund), that adds another step and delay. I'd wait until tomorrow before panicking.

Is it really the bank though? Or is it TurboTax's payment processor? Because those are two different things, right? The 'funded' status in TurboTax might just mean they've initiated the transfer to their payment processor, not that it's actually been sent to your bank yet.

This happened to me last year! I was freaking out because it said funded for like 4 days before the money showed up. The bank told me they release funds the same day they receive them, so the delay was definitely on TurboTax's end. Just sharing so you know it's probably going to show up soon and isn't lost!

Did you use a refund transfer option where TurboTax takes their fees out of your refund? Did you request direct deposit or a check? And as an international filer, is your bank account a US-based account or international? These details can significantly impact processing time.

I've seen exactly 17 posts about this same issue in the past 2 weeks. TurboTax's system shows 'funded' but the money takes 3-5 business days to actually arrive. If you need to speak with the IRS to confirm they've actually released the funds, you might want to try Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com). I was worried about my refund status last month and spent exactly 4 hours on hold before hanging up. Used Claimyr the next day and got through to an agent in 22 minutes who confirmed my refund was actually sent. Might give you peace of mind about whether this is a TurboTax issue or an IRS issue.

Try checking your refund status directly with the IRS instead of through TurboTax: 1. Go to IRS.gov and use the "Where's My Refund" tool 2. Enter your SSN/ITIN, filing status, and exact refund amount 3. Look for the status there - it will tell you if it's been approved and sent 4. If WMR shows "sent" but you don't have it, contact your bank 5. If WMR doesn't show "sent" yet, the TurboTax "funded" status is premature The IRS tools give you the actual status rather than TurboTax's interpretation of it.

I checked WMR on April 3rd and it showed my refund was approved, but TurboTax didn't show funded until April 5th. Then the money arrived on April 8th. The dates never seem to line up between the different systems.

Wait, so TurboTax and the IRS tracker can show different statuses? I thought they were pulling from the same data! Is one more accurate than the other?

Thx for this breakdown! WMR is def more reliable imo. Turbo and other prep companies sometimes show weird statuses that don't match what the IRS actually says. Always go to the source!

Are you using a Refund Transfer product with TurboTax? This utilizes a temporary bank account that can delay Direct Deposit processing by 5-7 business days beyond standard ACH transfer times. The SBBT (Santa Barbara Bank & Trust) or similar processor must receive the funds from IRS, deduct applicable fees, then initiate a secondary ACH to your personal account.

This is probably what's happening. I would *definitely* check if you opted for the refund transfer option, which is sometimes the default if you chose to pay TurboTax fees from your refund rather than separately. That almost always adds several days, sometimes up to a week, to the process.

Last year I had the exact same issue with TurboTax. It showed funded on a Thursday, but I didn't get my money until the following Tuesday. They use Republic Bank for their refund transfers, and they're notoriously slow. I switched to FreeTaxUSA this year and got my refund 2 days after the IRS approved it. Saved the fee and got my money faster.
