Online Tax ID Verification: As of Date Still 2/12 - Next Steps?

I verified my identity online. Feb 24th. No calls made yet. No appointment either. My ID.me notification disappeared. As of date stuck at 2/12. Anyone else? What happened next for you?

Did you get any kind of confirmation email or message after your verification? And what exactly are you seeing when you check your transcript now? Sometimes the "as of date" doesn't update right away even when your verification was successful. Have you checked the WMR tool to see if it shows a different status?

Thanks for bringing this up. I've been through similar situations before. The ID verification and actual return processing are separate systems that don't always sync immediately. When my as of date finally updated, everything moved quickly after that.

I'm confused about what the "as of date" actually means. Is that when they last looked at your return? Or when they expect to finish processing? Mine's been changing back and forth between two different dates for weeks now.

The "as of date" on account transcripts is specifically the date through which all transactions and account conditions are reflected. It's essentially the "current through" date for your account information according to IRS internal systems. When it updates, it typically indicates new processing activity.

I had the exact same issue last filing season. The "as of date" can be very misleading. • Your ID verification was likely successful (notification disappearing confirms this) • The "as of date" often doesn't update for 7-14 days after verification • The transcript system and verification system don't communicate in real-time I recommend using https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript once it updates. It helped me understand exactly what was happening with my delayed refund after verification. The tool explained all my transcript codes and gave me an accurate timeline prediction when the IRS website was giving me nothing.

Is this service really accurate? I need to file by April 15th and I'm worried that if my verification isn't complete, it could cause problems with my new return. Has anyone used this recently?

I used taxr.ai back in 2023 when I had a similar identity verification issue. It correctly identified that my return was on a 21-day hold after verification, which the IRS never mentioned. The timeline prediction was off by only 2 days.

Does taxr.ai work for international filers too? My situation is similar to OP but I'm filing with an ITIN instead of SSN. Wonder if the verification process works differently for us.

I was stuck in ID verification hell for weeks. Tried calling the regular IRS number 15+ times. Complete waste of time. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 30 minutes. Turns out my verification was successful but my return was stuck in a secondary review queue. They manually released it while I was on the phone! Sometimes you just need to talk to a human to get things moving. Worth every penny to avoid the endless hold music, lol.

Is this some kind of paid service? I'm already frustrated with the IRS making this so complicated. Not sure I want to pay more just to talk to them.

How long after your call did you see movement on your return? I'm trying to figure out if I should wait another week or take action now.

I had no idea services like this existed. My cousin waited on hold for 3 hours last month just to get disconnected. This seems much more efficient if it actually works.

Have you checked your tax year 2023 Account Transcript specifically? Sometimes only that one updates while the others stay blank. I verified on January 29th and my as of date didn't change until February 15th. Then I received my refund on February 22nd. The timing seems to vary a lot based on your filing situation.

Are you seeing any specific codes on your transcript? Or is it completely empty? I'm wondering if you're getting the standard 9001 code for identity verification or if there's something else going on. My verification was completed on March 1st but nothing changed until March 13th.

Just to clarify something important - the disappearance of the ID.me notification is actually a positive sign. It means your verification was accepted in their system. The as of date is a separate process that updates on its own schedule. In my experience helping clients through this, you should see movement within 7-10 business days from your verification date, which puts you right about now. Check again tomorrow morning - the system typically updates overnight between 3-5am Eastern time.
