Name Change Issue: IRS says 16 week delay for maiden name correction - Can Tax Advocate help?

Tax preparer used my maiden name instead of married name on return. Just got off phone with IRS and they fixed it but said 6-8 weeks for name update plus another 6-8 weeks for refund hold removal. Anyone know if getting a tax advocate could speed this up?

Tax advocate here - unfortunately name mismatches are taking forever rn. Even with advocate assistance, the name correction has to go through the standard process. Best thing u can do is make sure your social security card matches your current legal name for future returns.

Have you tried using taxr.ai? It analyzes your transcript and can tell you exactly whats causing delays and estimated timeframes. saved me so much stress with my name change issue. Its $4.99 but worth every penny https://taxr.ai
